Roscoe appears to be in pain.  He able to walk without misteps but he is walking gingerly.  I palpated him all over and could not identify where the pain is coming from, he just stands there and quivers the whole time no matter where I touch him.

When I flip his feet back under, he immediately rights the foot, so that is good.  He has been treated with meds and crate rest one time before was it a year ago - or maybe two.  At any rate, he responded well to meds and crate rest.  I carried him out to potty this morning and have him resting now.

I'm waiting to call the vet's office when they open here soon.

Any rays  and prayers would be appreciated.  Thanks Guys.

Update:  Vet agreed it is his back.  Roscoe was given a steroid shot and an RX for dexamethasone pills (also a steroid) which will be given for a month with the dosage stepping down gradually over the 30 days.  He is also to be on strict crate rest for 4 - 6 weeks.

Thanks to you all for the rays.  Hopefully they will help my little man feel better soon.

The vet agreed it was his back.  We are trying meds and crate rest again.  We will also be trying the new and improved version of Glyco-Flex.  He was given  a steriod shot and steroid pills (dexamethasone) to take for the next 30 days, with the dosage gradually stepping down each week.

The suggested strict crate rest was the standard 4 -6 weeks.

Roscoe is actually the lightest he has been in his adult life at 11.7 pounds.  Vet felt he could stand to gain a little back.  I guess all that running around chasing the plentiful squirrels burned off some calories for him and I should have upped his food.  Well the daily dose of cheese his pills will be hidden in will probably take care of that.

If no improvement in 3 days, we'll have to try somehting else.

Oh no!  Roscoe, baby doll!!!  Hope you feel better soon.  Being in the crate ain't fun, but it will make ya feel better, buddy.  Loads of rays to Roscoe!

Krista

Roscoe is no better as of this morning.  By the time we went to the vet yesterday evening, he was already worse than he was in the morning.  His response to flipping his foot over had slowed and his wobbliness was worse.

He is no worse than he was yesterday evening, but no better yet.  I am making some calls and looking to get referrals to specialists.

My heart is breaking to see him like this.  I'm a complete mess.

Krista,

I am so sorry to hear Roscoe is no better this morning... hopefully the steroids will kick in and he will start to improve over the next few days. I sent you a email last night with a bunch of info.

I will be thinking of Mr. Roscoe P today... if you need anything just give me a call.

Hugs
