I need help.  My puppy flies when he's not sleeping.  He zooms on and off the couch and on and off beds.  :BangHead:

I  know that he needs to stop this.  I plan on getting a set of steps for him, but I don't know *how* to keep him from flying on and off of everything.

Now, he sleeps a lot, but when he's up he chases one of our cats (the "fun" kitty vs. the "old and cranky" kitty) and I swear he going to go off the back of the couch and do himself a serious injury.

I have a flying Peter Parker as well. We discourage it as much as we can, but Parker is a dog that never walks, just runs and rips around the house. We are always prompting to slow down, and when he is really jumping, we spray hime with water.
That sometimes slows him down.
When we are not home he is locked in the laundry room so that he can't be jumping and ripping around the house.
I am also interested in other folks advice on how they control the jumping.

My Zoe had surgery in 2006 for IVDD.  Since her surgery my husband built ramps for her and her brother to go up and down to the couch and loveseat.  He also built a ramp we have placed at the bottom of our bed which they took to immediately to get in and out of the big bed.  Once in awhile they will still jump off the furniture (which gives me a heart attack) but for the most part they use the ramps without a problem.  We also have a ramp out the back door which they use.  Maybe someone could make ramps for you or you could order some.  Ramps are much better than steps, steps are not recommended.  I hope this helps.

I have no idea what I am going to do...he almost went over the back of the couch chasing the cat the other night...

He's either a red blur or asleep and never the twain shall meet!

This maybe hard to do put a long line on him let him drag it if he starts running around like a nut pick up the long line give him a light correction.Of course then you will have a bummed out Doxie, or you can give verbal command s sit, down. to stop him if he will do it??? My own Dachshund is more laid back she does jump on the furniture .DeeDee that has Miss Hallie may know of some ideas Miss Halie does not jump on the furniture or run around crazy but she has allot of obedience behind her.
Good Luck with your flying pooch.

I remember a solution back then for a sue zoomie doxie, that aside from good walk, run & swimming exercise (to worn out his extra energy), a friend put nice coat for her doxie's body. It's nice, about half-inches thick foamy coat with the inner cotton is fitting just fine for him to breathe yet it compacts a little his body so the pressure of his running and falling would not give him much impact.
