I've been a foster parent for one year and seven days now. :nana:

Started as a foster Nov 17th with Shorty :angel4:

My how the flys when your having fun!  :2funny:

I have to say it's been fustrating at times, :verdict: but mostly it's been very satisfying. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. :thumb:

Congrats on surviving a year in the foster world!  You do wonderful work that helps so many dogs and the families who adopt your dogs.  Without you, Sammy would not be safe, happy, and about to enjoy some leftover turkey today.  I know, I know - his chubby butt is only getting a little turkey!  Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

That's a wonderful achievement for you, so great you have space both in you home and in your heart for the fosters..  :thumb:

I'd encourage anyone with the ability to foster a dog to do so. Even though I've complained, it's still rewarding work.

I was trying to take a break from fostering but it only took me about 3 days to realize that if I did nothing, good dogs die.  I ended up with 4 fosters, which was painful, too many dogs to do a good job. Glad I'm back down to 2 fosters plus my 2 dogs. I used to think 4 dogs was too many, now I realize it's the perfect number, plus I learned how to manage 5 dogs so In a pinch I can pick up a extra dog if I have too.

It's unfortunate that so many dogs are in need of foster homes and permanent homes. I truly wish people put some thought into getting a pet. They are not just cute, but an awful lot of work and expense and patience. It's wonderful that there are people like you that can share your home with so many unwanted pets before they find their forever home.
