My in-laws were over this past weekend and they brought along their dog Duke.  Duke is a terrier mix rescued from the Frederick County (Maryland) pound in spring 1999.  We think he's around 11 - 12 years old, possibly older.   Duke seldom came for visits because Rudy used to have "problems" with Duke, probably because Duke was bigger than he was and Rudy had to prove to him that he was the top dog.

Happily, Max had no such problems with Duke.  In fact, he seemed quite thrilled to have another canine companion to keep him company (and a senior one at that).  The two of them acted like perfect gentlement to each other.  They enjoyed sniffing each other, but their tails wagged the whole time.  Unfortunately, I could not get Max and Duke in the same picture together.  Here is Duke:

Here is picture of Jessica with Duke and her Grandpa.   Technically, Duke is Max & Jessica's "uncle", even though he is younger than Max.  Jessica seemed to be equally thrilled that she had another dog to chase after.   Duke, being a little younger, quicker and bigger than Max, seemed to have little problem dealing with (or evading) Jessica.

You can just see a very small part of Max at the bottom right corner of the picture.   The good part about Max and Duke getting along is that my in-laws can now babysit Max when we go out of town and vice versa.   We expect to  have a few more visits from cousin Duke in the near future.

Great pictures !!!  So glad that Max has an elder compadre to pal around with !!!!  I know it will ease your mind that you can leave  Max with them if needed.
