I want to buy Finnegan a Kong to have while he is in his crate, but i am terrified to leave him with food while im gone in case he chokes.. What are the best things to put in it that will keep him busy but wont make me worry about him getting them stuck in his throat?

We bought one for Oliver when he was alone prior to Ingrid, and Peanut Butter was the only thing he was interested in. Patty I think had recipes. The kong is now sitting unused so do you want it..............

Our dogs also love peanut butter.  They can smell it before I even get the lid completely twisted off the jar.

Definately peanut butter.  Porky has his own jar of organic peanut butter.  :2funny:  Okay, so he's spoiled...so what?!    I stuff Porky's with peanut butter and stick it in the freezer for a summertime treat. Plus it takes him twice as long to clean it out.

The peanut butter is great,Cheese Whiz,Kong has cans of stuff to go in the Kongs you can find it at Pets Mart & Petco, Small little cookies mix in with some of the above that way you do not put too much of anyone thing. Also Cheese,Cottage cheese if you think he will eat it fairly quick you would not want it to spoil. Freezing it is good too I usually put it in the freezer over night in a plastic bag. If you plug the bottom good with peanut butter you can use chicken broth, beef broth not sure how messy that might be though.Hot dogs cut up small, chicken, beef all frozen you might want to try those when you are home to see how long it takes to get it out. Just use you imagination depend on what your dog likes I have put little carrots in my dogs Kongs green beans.Have fun & good luck,

So was the cricket rolled in organic peanut butter?  And this is for a pupper who eats two-week-old squirrel carcasses from the woods?

Another dachshund would help keep him busy while you're out.

Might be good to change it around once in awhile so he will not get burned out too. Forgot one just add his kibble to the mixture just subtract it from his regular meals. Would peanut butter make a dog gain weight???
