Marcia from MI

Dis is Eddie

Guess what all da snow is gone and I gots to go outside today and walk around, twice.  Mom took me out after she got back from work and let me walk around the yard a little then she made me come in.  So a few hours later she took me out again and I walked around and sniffed at the not yet green grass, but heck it's grass right.  Then mom said Eddie come on lets go in and I told  her I wanted to stay outside but she said no and put me on the porch and told me to wait until she opened a door, I didn't wait but took off down the ramp and back to sniffing the grass.  Den mom brought out the carrier and took me inside, but she said we can go out again tomorrow.

Marcia here,

It was so nice today I figured Eddie could use some  fresh air and so I took him outside, the first time I use  the carrier until we got onto the grass and he seemed a bit leery at first, but with the sun an fresh air he was soon happily walking around outside.  The second time he really didn't want to go but after he got out there there was no stopping him.  Eddie happily walked around the yard and wouldn't come in.  Even after I bodily brought him up to the porch he high tailed it back down when I was trying to open the back door, the little stinker.  So I went inside to get the carrier and finally  got him in the house.

He seemed so much happier outside and I hope that is a good sign.

There's definitely something about being outside on a warm day that stimilutes a dachsie's brain (or just about any other breed for that matter).  With all the smells and sounds, it definitely makes them feel alive.   Even Max-angel in his very later years would just enjoy doing a slow walk around the backyard.   He was by then too slow and his senses sufficiently dulled to give chase to anything, but he simply enjoyed being out there and poking his snout up into the air.

Parker is also becoming a little difficult when I call him to come in. It's like he's becoming reaquainted with the back yard and the smells are all new. Would that be smells of rotten leaves, plants, and  droppings. hmmmmmm

Sunshine rays are so nice to romp in.  I'm happy you enjoyed a nice warm day.
