Hey, Parker! I've been thinking - "A dangerous pastime!" "I know." . . .

:thinik: Auntie Karen is very particular about words and how she uses them.  "Off" means get down from wherever you are, while "Down" means lie down.  So she tells us to "Go make" and she means do our business outside, while "NO MARKING!!" means don't lift your leg and pee on the wall. Or the bookcase.  Or the footboard of her bed. The pillows ON her bed.  The bedroom door.  The bathroom door.  Guinness.  The file cabinet.  Basically anything in the house.  Outside we can pee anywhere (except for Guinness, I guess!)

Suggest to your hoomans that they pick a phrase for indoor pottying and another for outdoors.  See if it helps!

I do have commands for outside business. The neighbors think is hillarious. He does go on command. Outside when I want him to pee, I sing "pee pee", and if after he is done, and he needs to poop, I sing "poops too", if he looks at me confused, I repeat the prompt. I know when he needs to poop, because I feed him at the exact same time everyday so he is pretty regular.
As for the indoor business, he just disappears into the laundry room and does it. If I happen to be folding laundry, he often will do it because he enjoys the "good boy" praise.
As for the accidents on the carpet, and we haven't had one since Christmas, except for Wednesday night which was behaviour, (I was busy dealing with a work emergency on the phone, preparing supper, and my husband was also busy with a work emergency, and little Parker was ignored. He hates to be ignored so after an hour he tinkled right in front of me. Can't really blame him for doing that.
We have left him for 3 days now, and he does his business in the laundry room. I laughed this morning, because there was no fuss at all when I left him downstairs, he seemed to be comfortable with the new routine. He just crawled into his bed, no sign of seperation anxiety at all. I love it.
For the past year we have been leaving him in the xpen which is about 4ft X4ft, and he is still stressed when I get to work. (I have a video cam, and he whines for about 45 minutes after I leave him, and then whines off and on through out the day).
He really enjoys his freedom, and when I check the cam, he seems happier, playing with toys, or tucked in his bed. I am also happier because I really felt bad about the seperation anxiety, and nothing seem to help him.

dis is Parker: for free days now Momma has forgotten to put me in dat horrible pen. I don'ts like that pens. I sneak in my beds now when I see Momma getting ready for works, and Momma forgets I'm dere. shhhhhhhh don't anybodies tell her.

wow. You're smart.  And even though we all own the brightest, cutest pups, they really only have the mental cognitve function of a human two year old, right? (Okay, some more than others, but consider Loki in her perpetual "terrible twos". But I digress... (So, at my house all doggie meals are "supper" for example.)
And like you, "Off" means get off what ever, and "down" is down.
It's easy to teach them if you are consistant; every time they do what it is you want to train them to do, say the word and praise!!!!! Zuzu learned "UP" in about three days.  Each and everytime she hopped up or jumped over I said UP.  When confronted with a log in the path at the park, a simple UP and she hopped right over!
She has also learned--on her very own the sweet pea  "Skeedaddle". Because everytime I wanted her out of the way I said it, and one day I realized that was a "command."
So good luck Parker with "Make" & "NO Make".

My oldest - that G-d awful Miriam - is just 34, so I'm hoping by the time she hits forty she will have finally grown up!  :xfinger:

Max-angel used to sneak away to the most remote part of the house from where you were located when he wanted to have an "accident".  If you were downstairs, he'd go upstairs.  If you were upstairs, he'd go downstairs.

When Zeke has his rare accidents, he goes downstairs.   When we see him going downstairs while all of us are upstairs, we know that he's heading for trouble.  I simple "get back up here" usually works, and then we let him out.   Outside of when she has a UTI or if she does submissive peeing, Zora easily has the best housebreaking habits of any of the puppers we've had.
