I was thinking that I had read somewhere on here a recipe for a carpet cleaning solution involving peroxide and baking soda that wouldn't hurt the dogs (or hookids).  I can't seem to find it or remember who posted it.  Does anyone happen to know what I'm talking about?  I have tried Nature's Miracle and several other things but nothing really works as well as I would like.  The thing that works the best so far is something called Kids n' Pets.  I have old stains that the girls keep going back to no matter what I try.  That works pretty well but I really have to use it every week or the odor creeps back out of the carpet - even without new spots being made.  I would love to replace the carpet since it really is gross, but that's just not possible right now.  I'm trying to do something to help the odor even if the stains don't come out because my nose is very sensitive to smells, both good and bad.

For stains/odors in carpeting, we use white vinegar.  We pour the vinegar directly on the spot and then use a towel to soak it up.  Works great for us on odors....the vinegar smell will go away.

We don't have the problem of stains but when the event happened we used soap and water then white vinegar, then using an old towel or towels place that over the space and weigh it down and it is drawn into the towels. Neighbor is a carpet retailer. Do not scrub, its just a dilution effect.

Thanks!  I haven't tried vinegar in any way, at least not that I can think of right now!  I will definitely give all the suggestions a try and see what happens!
