Talk about a wild wild ride!!!

I haven't been posting much because between work and trying to get things done at home...plus having dial up(turtle speed)....I just don't post often.

BUT I do have some big news!!

I had to move away from where I lived by sister(Merion and now the ZZ's.).. and have been renting a house all that time. Thankfully I have  one of the better landlords in the city! He has 3 kids in college and decided he had to sell my house.  So for about the last month I have been trying to organize it, organize myself and find financing to buy it.  The credit union told me yesterday mortgage IS approved, and we close next week!! 

This landlord who does not normally allow dogs, was willing to let me bring my Twinkie angel over here. He knew I was disabled, at that point using a walker, so when I moved in, he put in automatic door on garage without me asking! It took me 8 MONTHS to find a place to live, first floor laundry who allowed dogs!! He would not let me get 2 dogs, but considering how well he bent the rules the first time I certainly understood.

So this month I will own my own home, will Not need to move and very thankfully not have to deal with any other landlords here. City has some really horrible ones!!  It also means I can get another doxie if I want and even TWO!!(city limit is 2).

The reason I said it is a wild ride is because although I had pre-approval for the amount of the sale, its a no down payment one and given the crazy things going on in the financial arena...I keep expecting someone to say OOPS...NOPE we cant do it!!  We were going to close Oct 30th but with the financial fun I dont want to risk the credit union changing their mind!! As part of the deal the landlord also is putting in a new gas furnace!!  He also replaced the last 2 concrete slabs in the driveway that had broken up. 

I admit the house is sorta old!!  BUT even if I had looked for another house, i would at best be looking at house from the 1940-60's, including possibly having someone sneak one of the early prefab homes in a sale.  I would have no idea what could be wrong with any house.   Here I have actually lived in house for 11 years....I know the problems!! I know the repairs the landlord has done!! The only one he dragged his feet on repair wise with me as a renter was replacing the furnace.  Several times the landlord has commented when we were going over condition of the house and even what appliances came with house, he said I knew it better than he does(he does have a lot of rentals...but   he only raised my rent $60/month in 12 leases. )

Wow, Nancy - how exciting!  I am sure Twinkie-Angel will do her doggoned best to aim a dachsie your way, that she feels is right for you!  Sounds great about buying your home, too - sending closing on the house rays easterly... :thumb:

Julia I gotta say that given how FAST this has shot through considering the financial rollercoaster right now, I swear there is either a guardian angel OR the doxie gang up at Rainbow Bridge steering this through!!  Can just see the THREE red doxies, gretel, Twinkie and Zeke up there and the 2 B&Tan ones...Zelda and Moosie(gretels brother from sisters first two doxies) all up there directing things.  Gotta admit I can just see Twinkie romping along behind the appraiser and the underwriters hurrying them along on their decisions.
Twinke WAS known to try to herd people....especially at critical times...like "MOM its supper time, you have to go in the kitchen and get MY food out!!!!"

I probably won't rush at getting a doxie, still have to get house back to being doxie safe BUT after losing Twinkie I really wanted the next to be another Granny dog like her!!  Yes, those sometimes have some issues, so its easier not to be renting, and if one doxie gets like Twinkie who hated being alone, I could get a 2nd one!

Thanks to all of you for the good wishes.  I guess part of me is still nervous until the papers are signed!!  But this credit union has a really good reputation.  Just seems with the speed this is going through that means it is really meant to be!!

Also one of the landlords regular repair guys gave me his cell phone and said to call him if I have any problems because he will do repairs for me!!
