Hi all I have a question we have a collar for Romeo and put it on him and he hates it I mean really hates it.  He scrathes at it and it seems like he is scraed when he has it on (sorry for miss spelling's) and when we take it off of him he is fine can anyone give any advice about this one.  We have a tag with his name and our phone number on it and then at 6 months when he gets registered he will have that tag and then he will have to start wearing the collar so can anyone help please and thanks so much.

Another question and problem is we gave him the flea stuff Front Line and it seemed to work but we have seen fleas on him and it hasn't been a month it has been on him so what is up with that can anyone help with that one also.

Never had the collar problem with my dogs.

Micro chip and tattoo him, without question, it's the only way that they'll never lose their ID.

Mr. Wilson's neck is bigger than his head, he can slip any collar,  I have to use a harness when I take him for a walk....but he's tattoo'd and micro chipped.

Flea sprays/Advantage work fine for outside dogs. In my opinion they don't work to keep fleas out of the house. I think is works like this. I have a doggie door and a big fenced in back yard.

The dog goes outside to pee, flea jumps on and rides the dog into the house, flea decides that there's something not right about this dog (becasue of the flea stuff) and jumps off the dog into your couch or carpet. Flea decides to bite you because your not wearing flea spray. Your house now has fleas.

I'm convinced thats the way it works......You have to spray your yard to really stop the fleas from entering.  I spray my back yard twice a year during flea season, cost me about $30-$35 dollars each time. Keeps them pesky critters off the dog and out of the house/yard. I don't remember the last time I needed to use flea control on the dogs.

I have a puppia harness for Parker when I take him out for a walk. There is no way he can slip out of it, and it's really easy to slip on. Parker practically puts it on himself. I hold out the neck opening, and he willing slips his neck in. Probably because he knows he's going out. It also doesn't chaff his legs. It's a little expensive, you can buy them on ebay, but they are really worth it. I have a small one for summer, and the next size up that goes over his sweater ( I live in Canada) for the winter. Since he is chipped and tattoed, I don't bother with a collar in the house. The collar also wears the fur off his neck.

Romeo sounds like my Reilly.  She despises, with everything in her being, having anything on her person.  That means collar, harness, sweaters, dresses, ANYTHING.  She sees me get out the leashes and she runs for cover.  Now mind, she loves actually going for walks, so she's not afraid of walkies, just doesn't like getting "dressed".

The very first collar I got her had sizing in it that she was allergic to.  Maybe it has something to do with it long term, but in any case, try a different brand of collar.  Also, if you don't want to live your life like this (and believe me, Reilly's a challenge to my sanity sometimes), get a trainer to help you get him over the fear.  Who knows what happened, but you need to change his association with collars to a positive one.

How old is Romeo?  If he's just a young puppy and never wore anything before, he's probably just not used to it.  I would put it on him and then pet him, maybe give him a small treat or something to make it a pleasant thing.  I would also leave it on all the time rather than taking it off and putting it on.  He will get used to it if given the chance.  Cajsa wasn't thrilled with her collar the first time we put it on her, but now she goes looking for it if we forget to put it back on after a B-A-T-H.  The same with Gretchen.  We added her tags and she had to adjust to them as well, but we only put her name tag on at first then added her rabies tag later.
Just make sure the collar isn't too tight and is soft enough that it doesn't rub a raw place on her.  Cajsa and Gretch wear 12 inch adjustable collars with rounded edges rather than the leather or stiffer material ones.  IT also doesn't rub the fur off the neck.

Porky hated his collar at first too.  We started him on a collar at 2 months old to get him used to it faster.   I started by having him wear it an hour the first day, two hours the second day, and so on.  Until he was wearing it all day and it didn't seem to bug him as much.   Just be patient with him and give him a treat everytime you put the collar or harness on him.  That should help him be more excited about wearing the collar.

As far as the flea issue goes, Porky has never has a flea yet as long as I have been washing the curtains, once a week, vaccuumming at least once a week, and washing his bedding and ours once a week.   We don't have a huge amount of fleas in our area either, so that coul be part of it.  I don't know, I'm just trying to think of ways to keep them out of the house.

Also with the scratching....does he do it all the time since you put on the frontline?   Porky is very allergic to that and flea collars.  We found out when we used frontline on him at 6 months old.  He kept scratching like crazy, we thought it was the collar too, but found out it wasn't.
