We went to the vet today for a check up and to get Cajsa's eye looked at.  It has a cloudy spot covering a good portion of the iris and the white is heavily vascularized in the same area.  There was no trauma or ulcerations, tear production was normal and it's not glaucoma because eye pressure was normal.  She got it stained and examined with 3 different lights and was a very good girl the entire time.  Dr. P gave us some rimadyl as an anti inflamatory, and an ointment to resolve the callous.  He couldn't figure out what caused it though.  He even checked her third eyelid to see if there was a hair or particles there to irritate the eye.  So right now we are treating the symptoms without knowing what caused them or if it will occur again.  We are going back in 2 weeks for a recheck and if it's not better then she will be going to a opthamologist in Louisville to see what is wrong.  I don't want my baby furgirl to have problems or lose her sight from something like this, so let's all hope her eye is better.
Has this happened to anyone else's pooch?

Could it be a Cataract?  Do you remember when our Dolly had eye problems?  We had to get it scraped by a doggy Optholmologist.  She was much better after the debridding (sp).

Rays to little Cajsa.

Dr. P didn't seem to think it was, but I don't know.  I am not so sure I want her eyeball scraped, but if it will make it better then I'll go for it.  My poor little baby fur grrl.  Gretchie is my little tank - nothing phases her, so I just have to baby Cajsa when she gets sick.

Hmmmm! I hope her eye gets better soon! I definitely recommend getting a second opinion if you can from an ophthalmologist. :bandaid:

Well, I thought I'd give a quick update.  I've been putting the meds in her eye and she's been taking the rimadyl for almost two days now.  Her eye is noticeably better although not normal yet.  I figure at the end of the two weeks, she will have her normal eye at this rate.

I still don't know what to think about that.  Every indication was there for a cut or scrape except the actual cut or scrape.  Maybe Dr. P will think of something before we go back for the follow up.  He's a dachsie man himself so he knows how they can get into things "without a trace"!  ( Cajsa says they are expert spies you know)
