I feed my crew the good stuff and yet if I ask "are you hungry" they go insane.  :idiot:  It seems that they are bottomless pits for food.

Is it me, my dogs, or just this breed?  :dontknow:

THE BREED!  :2funny: Penny is an absolute bottomless pit!  :verdict:
Owned by Penny the Princess :princess: & Mr. Tucker the C-A-T :cat:

Clifford pokes my leg at least 15 times a night wanting more cookies and that's after his dinner of Solid Gold kibble covered with green beans.
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

cheryl186

It's definitely the breed.  If there's any food withint five miles, mine sniff it out!
Lovingly owned by Winston, Zoe, Sheba, Callie, Tigger, Molly, Maggie, Oreo-Angel and Princess Angel

janetleej

um, yes the breed! I have often wondered how much they would consume in one sitting if allowed an "all you can eat" meal.
Owned by 3 dachshunds and 2 American pit bull terriers. They are all so alike in so many ways!!

Barb

They are doxies !!!!  In his older age, Rudy has gotten much more vocal.  Now instead of standing by the counter where the treats are and yipping a little - he will endlessly whine, whine, whine.......   Of course at meal time, i have to throw a toy down the hall while getting the bowls ready and he barks non-stop for that.  Its like a mad rush for the food to get down and 30 seconds later..... GONE !!!

Bet all of our kids would look like big 'ole stuffed sausages if they were able to free feed !!!!!
Owned by Rudy, Toby, Mary, Holly, Brandy-Angel

Add to that Ms A's habit of sitting in front of the kibble barrel everytime she goes in or out the back door. She is also the most vocal of any we have had when you are trying to get the meal together , Olivers trick is to leap vertically to see what the hold up is.
The laughable thin is when we first got Amy, Colleen said not to worry she does not eat every day and she was skinny, well she got neautred and I still swear they gave me the wrong dog back. We put it down to that she was in a run at the kennell with another dog and we thiunk she could not compete.
Dachie first sign of sickness is not eating

Roberta, Nick,  Oliver and Ella  and watched over by Emma, Angus, Ingrid and Amy

otherwise known as "Da Gang Down under"

Totally and wholly addicted to Dachshounds

Rich

Hey Barb, Stormy has done the same thing. He used to just eat everything he could find quietly. Now when mealtime approaches he groans, moans, grunts and whines as if getting fed depends on just the right combination of imploring sounds. And yes, he would eat to the point of collapse if we let him.
______Rich, Deb,  no more dachshunds, Sam , Sophie and Stormy at the bridge

Parker doesn't eat. Every night it's a chore to make his food as inviting as possible. He prefers food out of a can, so I have an empty can on the counter. I put the kibble in the can, then let him watch me put it in his bowl. Then he enjoys it. He also only drinks bottled water. So we keep filling up an empty bottle. He tells me it's because he has a pedigree. hmph! But, he eats poop if we don't get it picked up. I ask you.....what's up with that?????? Weiners are a strange breed!

No it's not just your crew, my gang are the same. I have been brought up with the breed from birth and each and everyone of these cute guys and girls have a thing about food. I guess it's the hound instinct, all hounds seem to be the same, so it's not just the dear Dachshund either.

Patches will TELL me when it is 5:00pm it is time to eat she does her growl talking for food then in the mornings she will start looking at me around 9:00am,nose me & go look in her dish. She also is a poo eater, worms and anything else that lands on the floor so taught her Leave It just in case I drop something she should not have. Anyone else's Dachshund like raw spinach & lettuce Patches loves it so when fixing our salads I usually give her a little. She was up to 15# last winter I finely got her down to 12.9# cutting some of her food back not happy camper thats for sure.

two words: scent hound

I actually planted  a Loki Tomato garden to keep her from digging under the fence to get to my Brandywines and Romas.  When I put apple pieces under them to get them to ripen up already! she about went insane.  My mom sez to me one time: "She won't eat an Altoid, will she?" and down her gullet it went.

Can't even put maters on the counter b/c of all the hootin' and hollerin'. They have to go in the fridge where she can't smell them.

And don't even ASK what Zuzu's been like now that she associates the smell of mices with the TASTE of mices.

I have a couple of cherry tomato plants and well.....every every time I let Zoe outside she has to steal a ripe one off the vine and take it in the house to eat...i didn't really know that doxies liked tomatoes until now.....

Madderoos Mom

Maddie, too, can tell time.  As 5:00 approaches, she starts the squeek fest.  Well, sometimes that starts at 4:00.  And in the morning?  Madam has, in her infinite wisdom, determined that 5:30 is a GRAND time to be fed and will hoot n holler until I get out of bed to accommodate her highness.  Indeed, in this house, the Madderoo and her Staff live here.

Dropped a grape tomato on the floor once Patches grabed it spit it out I went to reach for it she grabed again she was bound and determined to eat it she finely got it down but took her awhile she really did not like it but she ate it anyway????

Cajsa is one of the resident goat dogs.  She will eat nearly anything, even stuff that's really bad for her (Allergy dog).  Tomatoes and grapes(if I don't pick it up before she pounces it!), lettuce/greens (she will guard the trash over a lettuce core to the point of snapping), peaches, apples, strawberries!  Oh my!  She LOVES strawberries so much I used them as her training treats as a pup.  The only thing she won't eat is fresh curly parsley and I think it's because it tickles her mouth.  She will eat it after it dries though.  Wait, she doesn't like lamb based foods and will eat very little of them so I guess the only thing she wont' eat is lamb and fresh curly parsley!
