This afternoon I was setting up the x-pen to block off the dining room because we had a guy coming to do a measurement.  In the process, something scared Sarge and Duggie and Duggie knocked Sarge who sort of twisted on his back leg.  Now he is favoring his back leg when he walks -- walks and then sits -- we have probed his leg and movement is there and he doesn't respond like its hurting him to do so.......but he is favoring it.  He will completely stretch out with his legs behind him.  When he gets up from laying in that manner or just normally, or on his side, he limps slightly.  Of course, I am in full panic mode and tensed which he senses.  I have called his vet who said to have him rest tonight and bring him in tomorrow. We have a late appointment tomorrow night but they did say if he gets worse to call them and they will get him in.  So rays would be much appreciated.........Help!!!!  He has an appetite and is drinking, peeing and pooping!

UPDATE THIS MORNING:  Well, the rays worked!  Sarge is back to walking normal like nothing happened.  But what is the saying....When it rains, it pours.....Now Duggie could use a few rays -- he seems to be having some dizzy spells this morning and his balance is a bit off kilter at times, not constant.    Dave said he picked up on my tension.......so hate to ask but could use rays for the Duggie-man.  Thanks!

Rays heading to you from the land of the Zs.

Sounds like it is a soft-tissue type injury.   If it was a more serious injury, Sargey, he would be pulling the leg altogether.   I think a vet visit is warranted.   My guess is they'll prescribe Rest and Rimadyl, and Sargey will be as good as new again.

Oh carp, that kind of thing does put you over the edge. BUT it sounds like it is just a strain or minor injury, much better than the back! And he doesn't sound to be in much pain...I'll bet he will recover well but it's good you are taking him to the vet tomorrow. Hang in there it is so stressful when our kids hurt. Let us know what his doc says tomorrow.

Wonderful news about Sarge! (what a relief!!). But what is the deal with little Duggie?? Is he eating, drinking, everything else normally? Did you try the proprioreception test, turning his feeties over to see how fast he rights them? He doesn't seem to be in pain or anything? Gads, I think the worst is not knowing what is wrong but the vast majority of the time it is something minor as Sarge just proved. Keep us posted!

Duggie's ears were bothering him a day or two ago so I'm thinking that may have something to do with his balance.  I have drops for his ears so have been doing that.  As quick as I can get to his feet without him having a fit (because he doesn't like his feet, tail or ears messed with and has always been that way since day one), he rights his feet very quickly.  He is doing all that he should be doing -- eating, drinking, and all else.  He doesn't appear to be in any pain at all.  This afternoon, Sarge gave me this look like, oh wait, I'm suppose to be gimpy......after he had been walking just fine with no problems like yesterday.  I think they really picked up on my anxiety......I am a major stresser when it comes to the furkids.

Both are sleeping right now and seem fine.  I've got a major migraine coming on and with that I cannot drive so unless I can get it under control before 6:30 (Sarge's appointment was at 7:00), I am going to have to cancel the appointment.  I can't drive with these headaches and Dave does not drive anymore.  So, I'm thinking I'll cancel and watch and reschedule for later.  Man, I have a hard time tolerating days like this!  They can't give me anymore gray hairs, I'm already completely gray or silver as I like to say.  Thanks for all the rays. They are helping.  Dee
