I know a lot of you will understand.  Took Loki out this morning and tethered her to the "spike."  Take Zuzu on leash up the back yard.  This has been our usual routine for days now.  Today Loki decided to sit in the yard and look puny.
Daggnabbit are you sick?  or have you just figured out another way to manipulate more cookies out of me?
Lure her back to the house. Get ready for work and try again.  Poop happens and then back in the house.

So, naturally, I am at work all day worrying about her back.  Yikes.  I have heard all the horror stories (Thanks, Mike) of dogs going down and again and again and I'm having a little anxiety spike about this.    :comfort:

just sharing.
TUESDAY NIGHT/WEDNESDAY MORNING:  Didn't the little booger start with the raised fur on her back and go and sit on the rug in the bathroom? (She does this on occasion when she hurts.)  so into the crate and gave Metacam.  Consult with vet and he will fill more Metacam and we adopt the "watch and wait" observation.  Remember, when this whole thing started we thought it was the "new" calcification in her lumbar region.  No coincidence that when the meds for the neck are finished, this thing starts hurting.
Of course this morning she felt fine and rolled in the grass and stretched but did not poop.
This on top of an on-going neighbor dispute that has now reached a level of sheer idiocy. DH is very stressed and trying to paint for a show he has in September.
You guys are the best and thanks for the on-going support.  I totally get how you can be physically sick over a furkid.

I understand, of course.  I worry about my baby when he is hurt or sick too.  Know that you are doing all you can, and with time Loki will be back to normal.  Sending fast healing rays for Miss Loki.  Keep us posted on how she does.

Handle every "Situation" like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
tinkle on it and walk away.

Oh Leslie...I am doing that now too with Zoe....the least little look or way she sits....or if she looks depressed....hang in there....I think it is always in the back of our minds and I scrutinize her every move and check her "swagger" each time I let her out....we have all gone through it....it is a normal reaction with what you have been through lately with her.  Don't worry, indeed you are doing and have done all you can....I am sure she will be fine ....more prayers and rays on their way to Loki and her momma  :comfort:  We're here for you, you know that!!

It is totally normal I think to scrutinize everything with them after surgery. We did it (and still do it) with Penny...anything abnormal causes me to freak out. Hang in there! We are sending rays your way!

I still after nearly a year scrutinize everything if Amy does not move as much or is she dragging her back leg. I'll send you a photo of Oliver our "puny looker" he does the look every morning and he has not had surgery.
Relax and hang ten it will be over soon.

Amy here did you get any more cookies, I personally Mooooooooooood it was more effective I thought than barking as I could keep it up longer.

I do this too (even before Hallie had a problemo but a lot more so now). I drive my self insane sometimes analyzing every little look or posture. Hard not to when you've gone thorugh what so many of us have. I suppose for Loki the recovery isn't going to be a straight line upwards but will have some little dips along the way, but it will still be an upward direction. Hang in there with her it will be OK!

I COMPLETLY understand... as many here do !!!!    Your imagination runs wild until you can get home and see them for yourself.  Sending rays that Loki and the Zu are both just fine when you get home !!!  Let us know !

her "swagger"  yep that's about right.  I think I will make appointment to have her anal glands expressed; there has been a little scootie butt.  But the back leg test is fine.
She just seems subdued to me--and that's how it started 4/5 weeks ago. She still stretches and rolls over and gives kisses. We stopped the metacam on Friday last week.  Too soon?
It's either
A) too much exercise too soon.  See is allowed free reign of the house under supervision. and she stays in her porch/x-pen during the day while we are at work
OR
B) another FREAKING spinal disc slow leak ABOUT TO BURST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish they could talk.

Thanks for the encouragement, though.

Good mommies and daddies worry bout their furbabies, thats our job.

ya gotta keep her caged until the doctor releases her. They are brash little dogs that have to be controlled while they heal.

What I was told also, and  I still do it with both mine is to tickle in the back pads to make them pull the leg away, Amy's back right was her weakest and it took to pinch to get her to move it. The physio said it made them think about the leg and know it was there,

Oliver da idiot does it to me when I'm nearly sleep, and wonders why I stare at her.........mums

OK speaking as worry Queen it does not help to worry to the point of making the human care givers of the Fur Kids sick then who will take care of the Fur Kids have to do Deep Breathing and turn down the worry button a notch or two. Now doesn't that sound good on paper just have yet to figure out how to do it for my self.
By the way I get title of Worry Queen because my last name is Queen he,he,or ha,ha.

Better Worry Queen than Drama Queen, a title bestowed upon me by my daughters - one of whom usurped that throne in a bloodless coup!

Be patient with your little one.  I was the same way with my little Frida after she had her back surgery.  She was not used to so much crate rest and she would get down in the dumps and pout...and give me that look.  But now, she is stronger than ever!  She runs faster than she ever did before and she is super frisky!  It was hard to be patient with her recovery, but it came and all is well with her.  I still keep my eye on her for any dragging leg or limp, but everything is A-OK and we have never had a problem.  She had lots of bathtime water therapy and a little physical therapy while we watched tv.  Rays are being sent your way.  Frida says to keep up the good recovery work and remember "mom means it when she says no jumping or dancing during recovery."
