My friend, Brenda, had a call this evening from a retired teacher friend, who knew a lady whose great nephew was followed home by a dachsie a while back.  She already had three dogs, and her friend a block away, offered to take him.  This little guy is approximately 6 years old, a very short legged mini red, approx. 8-10 inches at shoulder and about 21" long, housebroken, neutered, well mannered, loving, calm, and gentle.  Well, long story short, Brekke and I are talking it over, I am expecting a call back from the woman, and we want to go meet him.  I am still not back in my home, so this may not happen unless that occurs quickly, so I may need suggestions if he needs to go into rescue, BUT... I am thinking of names, just in case...

That would be wonderful. The best thing ever would be to get back in your home AND get a brother for Brekke. I love the name Sandi mentioned. Sounds soooo handsome... I can't wait to hear what happens.

Hey, ladies!  I did not hear back yet, but I understand the foster home does not accept calls after 9 pm, and it was almost that when I finished talking with the aunt whose nephew was followed by the dachsie.  Well, Barb, my very first all-my-own dachsie was my b&t, Friedrich (Fritz), from "The Sound of Music".  That was 1972-1980.  He developed IDD at the ripe old age of 7 and the vet where we were, offered very little hope - less than 10%, that surgery would even help, so he was pts.  I am pretty sure I put him on Dodger's list, along with Heidi and Gretl Angels.

I like Dashiell, Sandi - was considering some names from my scifi collection - where Siglen, Sorcha, and Brekke came from...
