Because I went to the World of Pets Expo on Sunday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds and came home with a new member of the family!

His name is Winston and he is two years old.  He is a calico, neutered dwarf bunny - only 4 1/2 pounds!  He has a great personality and he and Miss Daisy are getting along great!  She gets into everything and he tags along!

So cool!  I would love a bunny, but do they drive the dachsies nuts?  I would hate to get one to have it end up hurt or worse.

AHHH, very cuddly!! Glad to hear he is getting along so well. I am afraid if I went to shows like that I would come home with more than I can handle!! Nice that you can give him a great home with lots of friends!!

So cool!  I would love a bunny, but do they drive the dachsies nuts?  I would hate to get one to have it end up hurt or worse. 

The doxies live in the back half of the house.  Since three o them have, ahem, toileting issues (Guinness is permanently unhouseboken and Merlin an Beau both like to mark anywhere, any time!), they don't come into the living and dining rooms or the kitchen.  The bunnies currently have the run of the kitchen/breakfast nook.  Once they are completely used to each other, I'll let them in the living room.

Miss Daisy has gone into my bedroom a couple of times.  The Herd went nuts trying to get her out from under the bed.  Sh waited until they were all on one side, then she calmly hopped out from under the other side and left the room.  She was long gone before they even noticed!!!  LOL!!

She is pretty feisty, so my money's on her!

Zeke says that he would like to have Winston and Daisy over for lunch!

Actually, my money would also be on the bunnies in a head-to-head against Zeke.  However, if it was Rudy-angel & Max-angel in their prime, watch out bunnies!   Rudy could get up enough of a head of steam to run down a rabbit, but the rabbit was always more maneuverable, being able to turn inside Rudy and make its getaway.   Dachshunds going full speed tend to have very wide turning circles.

Zora, on the other hand, would undoubtedly try to mother both bunnies.

Everything I've read and every one I've talked to say that bunnies do MUCH MUCH better in twos or more.  They are very social and play with each other.

And a friend, Andy, is giving me a third bunny who needs rescuing - a grey female dwarf lop bunny!  She's coming next Wednesday!

As for getting along - Miss Daisy is in Winston's cage, eating his dinner and Winston is in her cage drinking HER water!

The timothy hay is always greener in someone else's pasture?????

I love the dwarf bunnies they are so adorable.  A few years back we went to a county fair and took in the 4H section I was amazed to see giant rabbits that took up the whole cage and right next to them were these sweet bunnies with huge penthouses..

Eddie loves bunnies - a friend showed him one in a pet store once and all he did was yawn and want to go find the treat aisle.
