My regis turned 15 in October of last year.  Up until a couple of weeks ago he hasn't had an accident in the house.  He would always let me know when he had to go.  Now if the door isn't already open for him to go out he will walk in the kitchen give no warning and go pee.  I have a vet appointment to see if it might be uti, but wanted to know if others that have older dog have gone through this.

He hasn't been going to the wrong side of the door when he goes out or getting stuck behind the door and having trouble figuring out how to get out from behind it?

My Zeke did that and started peeing in the house but he had a cognitive disorder like alzheimer's in people.
The pottying is one of the symptoms.
They do have meds for it but Zeke couldn't take them.

Hopefully it is just his age and he can't hold it as well or a bladder infection that is easy to treat.
Good luck!!

When my Papillon was almost that age the vet put her on some capsules with oil in them like you use for a better coat if he does not have a UTI you may consider diapers that is what I used with my Papillon.

If it isn't UTI, I'm just wondering if he is getting older and having a harder time controlling it. Growing up one of our terriers have this problem as he become incontinent as he got older. There are also belly bands that can be used. I know that some of our members have had experience with them and can shed light on how to use them.

We used the belly bands with Zeke.  They worked well.  Just make sure you have several so you can change them when they need to be and have more to put on. Good luck!!

Well we went to the vet and it wasn't uti so that is good.  We tallked about meds and choose not to put him on anything.  I will just deal with him peeing in the kitchen.  Thats the least I can do for him since for 15 years he has been so good holding it.  I don't think he would like belly bands,  I have gotton him sweaters in the past and he get all depressed and hides in the coner.  I think he would do the same with a belly band.  Thanks for the advice everyone.

Set up a good potty station for him.........towel, puppy pad and/or newspaper.  Saves the floor!  You can buy washable puppy pads, that's what I use and they are a Godsend!
