Hi guys a great big thank you to all that missed us made me feel great finding out some one cared enough to miss us. The fun started Monday 12/10/07 at 6:30 am no power did not get power back until Friday 12/14/07 at 6:30 pm. Was a long cold week that is for sure I found out Dobermans when cold there teeth chatter also found out a buried Doxie under the covers will not get a mouse in her crate trying to steal a cookie left behind.Buddy had chew up his $2.00 sweat shirt and his $70.00 coat from last year so the only thing left was a light weight sweater type sweat shirt for him to wear.Patches still had her coat wore it most of the time in the house.Kept Buddy either in his crate or on a leash we had candles going did not want him to knock one over and start a fire. All we have is Central heat & air no power no heat, have a gas stove so we could only use the burners to cook soup and such.
Patches had left a cookie in the bottom of her crate had a mouse come in (old house) that mouse tried for two nights to get the cookie out of the crate of course after Patches & I went to bed on the couch, we were all covered up. I told Patches the mouse was after her cookie nope was not interested in getting out from under the covers at all.
Hubby had no brakes on his truck no place to take it to get it fixed all with out power finely got the truck fixed on the 15th so I had no car Hubby took it to work in West Tulsa they had power.
Thursday night at 3:00 am looked at the clock 47* in the house I said to myself I have had it going to pack up the dogs and go to my son's house he had power they said we could come with the dogs.Packed up Friday getting ready to load up the car the Power people showed up in the neighborhood had power back on at 6:30 pm Yeah Whoo was very nice to have heat back on.
We lost allot of limbs out of our old Maple tree in the front yard one knocked the truck mirror loose, lost one limb from out Oak tree in the back yard did not do any damage was planted in the middle of the yard.
Our UN friendly neighbors to the south of us that have a jungle in their back yard trees every where they have three tree limbs hanging in the tree's will not take much to have them fall onto our shed maybe our fence. I asked this neighbor 2 years ago to do something with his trees he said he would but never did.
Told my Hubby if the tree limbs fall and kill one or both dogs he will have to get me out of jail.
I sure hope nothing like that happens I try to go out with the dogs and keep them away from that side of the fence no sense in anyone having a jungle in their yard destroying the fence my hubby put up on the inside of the existing cyclone fence so frustrated over those trees & fence getting damaged. Not a regular fence hubby ran a cement curb down both sides of our back yard put up an all steel metal galvanized 6 ft privacy's fence.
Nice to be back will try to catch up some.

Does not sound like a good week. Glad to hear you are OK though. We actually had no gas in Melbourne a few years back due to a bad fire in the refinery. We learnt as we had gas hot water and cook top and heating, we learnt to get a second portable source. The worst was no hot water.

Oh my word what a bad time you have been having! So glad to hear from you though we were worried. That is a LONG time to be without power. Poor cold puppers and good grief a mouse in the crate! It must have been cold for Patches to ignore that!  :2funny:

Good luck with all this I hope this will be a much better week for you. Thanks for checking in.

What a terrible week.....No heat and then no brakes on your truck! :verdict:  So Glad you have power now and everything is getting back to normal.  We were worried about you!  Buddy needs to take some pointers from Patches about staying nice and warm!!!!!

It sounds like you should be living in S.C. where they aren't prepared for ice storms instead of Oklahoma! Wouldn't it be great if Buddy could understand what you said to him and take this as a lesson NOT to chew up his clothes that are meant to keep him warm? When this happened to us a couple of years ago, I was more worried about Schatzi and Molly than anything else. Of course, Molly didn't seem to matter (she has plenty of padding to keep her warm) and Schatzi just burrowed with us! Glad you are about and funcitoning again!

Oh my goodness - sounds like you had a very trying and impossible week!  I am so sorry you were without power for so long, but at least you had a gas stove for cooking.  You'll have to remind Buddy not to chew up his clothing any more.  Eek, a mouse - but you don't have to have an old house to get mice - a hubby who left the dloors open to let the floors dry when he mopped will do it, too.  We have caught over 9 mice due to that little fiasco.   We are so glad you have power and are getting back to normal.

Oh my!!  I don't even want to think about how cold it got for you.  We got some bad storms here too, but we were fortunate,we kept our power and just got lots of snow!  We are STILL trying to dig out.   :doah:

Oh no, what a bad week for you, but I'm glad to hear that you are OK.  We just got hit with and ice storm, too but fortunately didn't lose any power.

Yikes! What a nightmare! Glad it's all over for you and you're back to the 21st century. Poor big dobie...with his teeth chattering. OOhh, a mouse! I don't think Gretchen would ever be cold enough to ignore a mouse....especially in HER house! Buddy...clothes are to WEAR, not to CHEW!!!!
