So my co-worker found this post.   http://omaha.craigslist.org/pet/483503195.html  and I looked it up. Well I think they are my neighbors. I have seen the black and tan outside before and always wanted to stop by with my two, Mimi and Tuttle. But when I have my two they are gone. And now they are getting rid of him!!! I emailed them and asked some questions and now I am waiting. I can't believe I did it!! With everything that is going on with me right now I don't know if it was the smartest thing to do. Three doxies?!? Well I know I would rather have him then the alternative but oh man what have I done!! Any advice about this is sure welcome!

Any time you add a third dog it becomes a pack situation, Doxie's maybe considered a pack group not sure if I'm making any sense but Doxie's in a pack may get along better than some breeds. If you are the pack leader and the Doxie's know it should not be a problem.
Good Luck know things will go well for you.

Having pets is like having children:

From zero to one is catastrophic;

from one to two is geometric;

from two to three is arithmetic;

after three, just have more food on hand.

Thanks everyone. I am still waiting to hear back. I sure have the anxiety going on now though. My boyfriend is worried that he is going to come home and find three doxies!! I think he is just worried about not having room in the big bed!! This waiting though is driving me nuts!! I sure hope it is the people I am thinking about though. That would make it much easier. I know they take really good care of him. A nice young couple. My main concern is why they want to get rid of him.

Take him!!!  I've had many years with threesomes.  My first three were three males -- Christopher, Hasen and Harry.  They all got along great.  Christopher and Hasen passed away from old age, and I had just Harry, then I added Wily and Alex.  Then Harry passed away at the age of 17.  We got Misty when Willy and Alex were three years old.  They would all play together.  Just like a group of toddlers, they would get rowdy and loud.  I didn't have any "pack" issues.  It may take a little while for everyone to get used to each other, but once they do, watch out, you will LOVE it!!!

I never understood the people who gave Misty up to DRNA, they "just decided they didn't want her anymore."  SHE WAS A 5 MONTH OLD SILVER DAPPLE PUPPY FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!!   :meme:  They don't get cuter than that.  And sweet, oh my gosh was Misty a sweetie.  I can't understand how anyone could have given her up, but it was my good fortune!   :heart:

Dee Dee and Hallie

How exciting, he looks like a little doll! I would ask some questions maybe first but I agree with Patty. Hallie was dumped at an animal shelter along with Rich and Debs Sophie and another little boy, when they were less than a year old, and they are WONDERFUL dogs! None of them had any issues, we'll never know why they were dumped. In fact I was so afraid of getting another dog at the time I kept wanting Hallie to do something wrong...so I would have an excuse not to keep her but she was perfect (thank goodness!!). Can't imagine how my life would have been these past 6 years without her, if this little boy is meant for you, you'll get him!

If nothing else, as long as you get him,  you can always rutn him over to a good rescue. The main thing is so he doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

I heard back from them!! So it looks like she had a liter. Here is what she said:

You should have stopped by.  I love to meet new people.  Especially doxie lovers.  Yes, you are correct about my location.  Carson is going for $150.00.  I had sold him to a retired couple in Gretna but she came down with allergies so I had to refund. (just the right thing to do in my mind)…but anyways, he’s back on the market.  Please stop next time and introduce yourself.

So now that I know the situation I may stop by. Of course everyone knows what will happen if I do that!! My main concern is the money and getting it now. It is a hard time financally for us, but we doxie lovers have to do what we have to do right? I did reply to her email asking if he had his papers and vaccination records and if he was fixed or not. So I think I will wait until I hear back from her and see what she says about it. The good thing is she lives two blocks from me and I drive by her house everyday. So it will be really easy for me to set up play dates with her for all the pups!! Oh and I should introduce her to Weiner Writings. I will keep you posted.

Good luck!!!  He looks like such a little doll.  And $150 isn't bad, but I know that its still a chunk of money when things are tight.  But if he is up to date on his shots and he's fixed, that would be a plus.  Let us know what happens.  When are you going over to take a look?  With him that close, I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation.

MimisMomma

That is what I am afraid of Patty!! I don't know if I will be able to stop myself on the way home!! I sure hope I hear back from her before I leave work. That will help.

It sort of sounds like it's not really a rescue situation then right? She's just an irresponsible breeder (trying to stay off my soapbox here  :cussing:) breeding for money while good doxies are being put down because of not enough homes...argh. If it's just a sweet little puppy for sale and not one needing out of a bad place maybe the pressure is off you a little?

LOL,DD, that soap box just slid right under you!!! I have to say, though, I agree 100%.

Mel, he is very cute! Good luck with your decision. I have 2 and I'm right there with ya on adding a third.

I think I agree with Dee Dee.  He is an absolutely adorable little guy, but I don't really like the breeder thing either.  Granted, I got Porky from a breeder so I sound kinda hypocritical saying that.  But, I have learned a lot since then and would much rather get mine from a rescue.  The breeder we got Porky from sold Porky's father and mother shortly after Porky was born.  They were supposedly her favorite pets, yet she sold them.  :dontknow:  Didn't make sense to me.  Also she is now de-barking her dogs.  Don't even get me started on that!   :cussing:  It seems she is turning more and more into a puppy mill every day.  It makes me really sad and knowing that I will never buy from her or another breeder again!    When we got Porky she was very responsible and didn't have as many dogs as she does now.

MimisMomma

Actually it is not that type of situation at all. I stopped by after work and she was great. The situation with Carson is not that she is just trying to get rid of him. She got him to breed. She actually saved him from a horrible breeder, the kind you guys are talking about. I am sure she didn't have intentions of keeping him. She really wants to give him a good home and she spent a lot of time and money getting his health back. I am really glad I stopped by. She has bread him with her female. The funny thing was is that her female looks exactly like my Mimi and Carson looks exactly like Tuttle. A great couple and I really am glad I stopped by. Scott and I are going go see them again and then make the decision. I am so glad I met them. OH and she was asking all about WW!! So I gave her the web site and she is really excited to join.

That's great Mel!   It does sound like a better situation than I was thinking of.  I'm glad she sounds like a responsible breeder.   Very cool that you met a fellow doxie lover!!   :apls:   I think I made my post sound more negative then I meant it. I wasn't trying to say this lady was bad, I was simply saying be careful.   I know there are responsible breeders out there, I just would rather rescue after my experience. Good Luck with your decision!  I'm sorry if I worded my last post wrong, I tuly am excited for you!!   :apls:

Yes, Scott and I are now giving Carson a try!! So far he has had one busy day!! Very tired. Of course he doesn't want to leave my side right now and is trying to cope with meeting new doxies and two new humans. So we will have to see how we all get along. Please keep fingures crossed for us that we can make this work!!

Ooooh!  How exciting!  Do keep us updated!  The pic of Carson is gone but I bet he's a real cutie.

MimisMomma

The great couple that we met today that we recieved Carson from has joined our group. I can't tell you how excited they were to hear about the board. They are Bradfords Best. They have posted pictures already and there are a couple of Carson. He is the black and tan. As I write this both Mimi and Carson and Tuttle are all snuggled on my lap. At first Tuttle scared Carson I think. Carson really knows how to do a great Elvis impression!! Only a couple times has he snapped or growled at Tuttle. I am hoping this is just the "get to know each other phase" Tuttle of course doesn't understand why Carson isn't being so lovey and playful like he is. But I am sure things will settle down. At least I hope. Carson ate some tonight. Not much but enough. He has asked to go outside. I went with him because of it being a new yard and all and he did fine. The main problem is the he isn't really liking Scott. I am hoping that will take a little bit of time but turn out ok.
