They are doing well, and their house is fine.  Other than a lot of smoke, their area was spared.  The Beastie boys are doing well, almost 9 years old now.  Maria and Mark are grandparents, and loving it.  "Leo" is one year old.

I got an email from Maria today, too, with a set of piccies from their Hawaiian vacation - the first one they've had in 3 years!  There were some gorgeous shots, and I think one may be in Hanalei Bay (not directly inspiration of "Land of Honalee" in Puff the Magic Dragon, but it could have been!  There are shots of Mark out surfing - one year cancer-free now!  I did not get piccies of the Beastie Boys, and I do so look forward to that!  (I adore Clapton!)
