Hey everyone,
Well Porky had some vomiting and diarrhea again this morning.   :doah: So...we made a quick trip to the vet.  The vet asked, okay...I need you to make a list of everything he has eaten or drank in the last 2-3 days.  So...I listed his food, his water, and his treats.   Then the vet grabbed my list out of Porky's file from the last time.

And..BINGO found something that both lists had in common.   :apls:  His treats!   I had just bought these treats for him about a month ago.  Porky had never had them before, but I scanned through the ingredients and they all looked okay so I bought them and fed them to him.  Porky only get these treats once in a while, hence the reason the diarrhea hasn't been constant.   If I would have been thinking I probably would have figured this out myself.  :doah:   :BangHead:

We're not sure what is in the treats that is bothering him.   So..next step, we are eliminating ALL treats from his diet to see what happens.  If he gets diarrhea again we know its something else.   :verdict:  Porky is not going to like not getting his treats.  I did get permission to give him pig ears, which he LOVES.  So...hopefully we won't have any more problems.

Poor Porky, but hopefully you have found the culprit in his diet.  Can he eat carrots or green beans?  They are low cal and a potentially good treat.
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

:xfinger: Crossing fingers and hoping that you have found out what is making poor Porky sick.....gee....I don't know about the pig ears.  Ruth is right...sometimes pig ears do not agree with our babies too much and they get sick....kinda greasy....not sure I would give him Pig Ears right now....what do you think?  Has anyone tried the treat "Better Than Ears"???  My dogs seem to like those (although not as much).

Crossing fingers and paws here that is the culprit !!!  What kind of treats are they?

Baby carrots cut into bite sizes pieces are a good treat !  Mine love them especially when I throw a few on the floor and they scramble for them !

My boys love pig ears, but pig ears don't love them.  Anything "pork" is out of the question, as is most stuff, even steak bones.  Too rich.  So we stick with our home-made frozen stuffed marrow bones.

Eddie hasn't had pig ears in ages, so I found some soft pig ear style treats and he loved them.  However, his tummy didn't and he got sick.  Now its only fresh veggies for the Edster.  Any of the treats that look like bacon, etc make him sick.

Oh I guess I never noticed them make Porky sick before.  :dontknow: Thanks for the input!   :apls: We definately won't feed those either then.   I don't want to make his little tummy any worse.

I noticed something else about his tummy problems.  It always happens on days when our landlady comes to the door, or when the mailman practically bangs our door down. ( Long story short, anytime we get a package or anything, the mailman comes to the door and bangs really hard on the door. Scares the crap out of everybody!)   So...maybe its just really bad anxiety?   He seems to be terrified of the landlady.  He was before she came in our house that day, but now its so much worse.   Can bad anxiety be the cause of all this?  If so, what are my options other than anxiety meds?   I don't know why I never noticed that correlation between certain visitors and his tummy troubles before. My husband had to point that out to me.  :doah

I think anxiety would cause this. Every time Tuttle gets his nails clipped or given a bath has has the diarrhea right after words!! So maybe that is it. I give him the squash baby food on those days and it helps a lot! Plus he loves it. Around the 4th of July I have to put both pups on the doggy downers because the fireworks scare both of them really bad and that helps. It would be difficult to have to keep Porkey on them all the time though. It isn't like you know when someone is going to pound on your door! Could you post a sign asking that they don't pound so hard?
