Hard to believe a year has passed since Max headed off to the Bridge.   Of all the passings we've experienced, his was by far the easiest to come to terms with.    Both the quantity (17 years 7 months) and the quality of his life were without question.  His final conscious act was to give kisses, as if to say "It's okay.  It's time for me to move on".

Max's passing brought our attention to Zeke and Zora's plight, and it was his passing that aimed the dogapult at our house where the Zs landed two weeks later.   Sometimes, I wonder if Max somehow knew that the Zs were going to need a new home and he sacrificed himself for them.   His final plunge on the old age rollercoaster began at almost the same time Zeke and Zora were first being boarded.  Maybe it was a coincidence, but then again, Max was that kind of dachshund.

Until we meet again, old boy.

One of the last pictures taken of Max, about 1 week before he passed:

That little wagon pusher must be close to 20 today.  Did he ever get any taller?  (LOL) :2funny:

 Karen, that was too funny!!!   Thanks for sharing the pictures of Max and the Z's with us.  Max knew you would miss him so he had to send two z's to fill the void.    :angel4:

Very good Karen!   Brett, the boy in the picture,  will turn 20 next year, and he just got a bit taller....He's 6' 3" now.

Max was a wonderful looking young man, as was Rudy...      :thumb:     I will be thinking of you..   The one year seemed to hit me pretty hard...   And, the Z'z are just beautiful doggies...   Belly rubs and smoochies to them....

Gosh, the year has just flown by.  Your montage of pictures sure brings home how short our time together is.  Especially as I look down at my own little white-face begging for a potato chip.

Thanks for sharing them with us again.
There's nothing like having a dachshund tongue up your nose at 3 a.m.

Thank you David for sharing these pictures of Max, Rudy, Zeke and Zora, all beautiful babies.  How time flies.  It is hard to believe my oldest is 4 1/2 already.

I can't believe it has been a year since Max went to the Bridge and the Z's came to you.  I feel sure that Max-Angel had everything to do with the Z's coming.......he knew that you would not be happy without dachshunds in the family....and that the Z's needed you !

Love all the pictures and as Mike says - life with them is all to short.......thanks for sharing !

Life overlaps life, and we all just continue our journey, don't we?  I was just realizing that I've had continuous doxies in my life since 1979.   Max certainly had a good long life.  Thats all we can ever hope for, for our doxies and for ourselves.

A year?  Seems like it was just yesterday!  So many have left us this year...I think I'm feeling old too.

Lovely photographs to go with your happy memories.  You have been blessed!
