Hi!

I was at Old Navy Last night and found an unexpected but good bargain.  They had dog crate pads on sale for $9.95.  These pads are somewhat large.  They fit the medium sized crates well, like the kind I use for my huge 30 lb Longfellow, or the ones some people use to hold two or three tweenies.  They will fold, so you could use them in the small crates if you fold them in half.  They are not as thick as the ones at Petsmart, but they are attractive and nice.  At that price you could buy two and layer them to get the cushion of the thicker pads, and still spend less than half the price.

They also had blankies on sale, but I did not price those since I am not in the market for new dog blankets.

I also bought Fella a Halloween costume.  They had the cutest spider costume for $14.50. Regular price, but it is cute.  It's a stuffed black spider attached to the top side of a black velvet velcro vest.  When I got home, I absolutely could not get it on Fella because he mistook it for a new dog toy and was trying to play with it.  Typical.  If Fella had a brain he would take it out and play with it.

Don't feel sorry for Boone and Skeeter,  They have nice crate pads and a large plastic tote full of costumes.

Sounds good. Don't know what the cost of polar fleece is over there, as I buy it off the bolt and use it for blankies as its warm and washes and drys in no time. I pay no more than $8 oz a metre for it. I got new ones just to make sure AMy had new ones post op and 6 of them came to about $40 the fleece was on special.
If I was closer I'd love to meet Fella as he definately s ounds like a character, and suspiciously like Oliver.

Just a suggestion and not sure it is doable, but those pads sound a little too much line the attack air mattress I used last time I visited sister. It did not want to lay flat and ended up literally throwing me onto the floor next to the bed!! I was not hurt but there is a tiny space there, and i literally had to drag my self to the bottom of the bed, around the corner and then try to stand up!  Lets just say I am heavy and it was NOT pretty!  Thankfully other than a scraped foot and some bruises the only thing really hurting was my pride!!

Anyway, if this pads can be opened, and you plan to fold them in half, I would be tempted to cut the foam in half so it cannot toss any puppers off to the side, get them stuck or climb on top of them so they dont have ANYTHING soft to lay on!!  Usually a serrated knife works best to cut the foam , or maybe an electric knife.

This pads seem to be fiber filled, and they are not all that thick, perhaps 1/2" to 1".  It's more of a crate liner than a bed or mattress pad.  They are sold rolled up and strapped, like a bed roll.  I don't think it's possible for anyone to tumble off, so there is no danger to delicate dachsie backs.

Ohhhh Auntiedoxzz....I didn't smile until I read you were ok, now I am LMAO! Only because I've been in similar situations of getting stuck in an air bed. Why are things like this so funny? LOL!

Actually its not really the same, but that reminds me of an adventure a LOOONNNGGG time ago. That involved my sister's first doxie, Gretel, also called numerous other names including "Twiggybottoms" for some reason). Being a Bed Bug was truley her calling!!
If you did not have a blankie for her to curl up in, she would find her own.  Scared the heck out of me one night when I went to lay down and the pillow started to move!! Then I realized Gretel had crawled UNDER the pillow inside the case.

That was not the real adventure though. The adventure was when her trucker hubby brought his sleeping bag into the house, and left it on the floor(not rolled up).  Gretel decided to crawl inside.

She did too!!  I mean really INSIDE!!! She found the hole in it, she got into the sleeping bag("well thats what you are supposed to do RIGHT!!") But usually that means the bag is folded over and you crawl inside that part. Gretel found the hole and crawled in. Then  she decided to move around and so this sleeping bag suddenly gained legs!!!  Poor Moosie(her brother Hansel actually) ALMOST went berzerk as this SLEEPING BAG came towards him.  Obviously it wanted to attack him!!!    It was also a very HOT summer day.  So after a little stumbling around Gretel started panting, and we stopped falling over laughing and tried to get her out!!  Could NOT find her, so finally Merion had to use scissors to make ANOTHER hole in it to rescue her!!
