Yesterday was Toby-Mans Gotcha Day!

Two years ago my sweet little man came all the way from New Orleans by way of Florida Dachshund Rescue. I could never have known that the sick and frightened little guy who looked up at me with the most gorgeous brown eyes I have ever seen would fill my life with so many tears and so much joy! I thank God every single day for sending Toby-Man to me. Thank YOU ALL for being there for us through all of it. You guys are the absolute best!

I was watching the Katrina anniversary stuff this morning and was thinking of Toby. I meant to post earlier today and ask you what day his Gotcha day was since I knew it was one day this week.

I didn't realize that Toby was a Katrina victim. So glad he found his way to you and into a wonderful and loving home.

Beth...Toby was being fostered in New Orleans while being treated for Heartworm and a variety of other issues. That is where he is originally from. We had planned on adopting him and just had to move the date up a week or so when Katrina hit. Thank God for the Florida Dachshund Rescue transport! They were able to get four dachsies out of there the day before and to their new forever homes on the day of the hurricane. Sadly, Toby's foster family lost everything but were all okay. It was a crazy, stressfull couple of days while they were making the arrangements to get him here!
