:apls:It was one year ago today (On our Wedding Anniversary) that Zoe went paralyzed from IVDD.  She went through surgery and eight weeks of crate rest.  Today she is 95% good as new and is happy as a lark!!  Plus, the surgery is now paid off (Care Credit, 12 mths same as cash is wonderful!!!!).   :thumb:

What a difference a year makes!!!   :headbang: :hello2:

How many of our babies out there have gone through back episodes?  Did your babies end up having back surgery?  or did you use the medications and crate rest or holistic approach with no surgery?  Did any of your babies have any bad reactions to the medications they were taking?

Just curious.....I have been told that 1 in 8 dachsies have IVDD.  Out of that, only about 1/8th of those have more than 1 episode and usually those episodes can be handled with meds and crate rest.  For all of us...I am praying that none of us and our babies have to go through that again!!!

Once they have a back episode, then you worry all the time.  Dr. Neff at UC Davis University in California is doing a study on IVDD.  They previously have accepted mouth swabs for DNA testing and now they are accepting blood draws.  I hope they come up with something/anything to make life easier (and hopefully a cure!!) for dogs with IVDD.

Oh yeah...you aren't going to believe this!  There was a woman on Dodgerlist the other day who had a skunk who went down with IVDD.  There must be a skunk pet website out there because after she got on Dodgerslist, another girl came on with another skunk......

:thumb:   Yeah!!!!!!  So glad that Zoe is doing so good!!!  Way to go Zoe girl!!!  Well, you know my story since we are both on DodgersList....  It will be a year on the 16th that my little man went down...  And, a year on the 23rd that I lost him...  I pray every day that I will never have to go through that with EmmyLou....  That is just too hard on both pupper and parent....   And, then EmmyLou will be a year old on the 29th, that is how I knew she was perfect, and that my Boo sent her for me....  She was born 6 days from the day I lost Boo....   Crazy how that worked out, don't ya think????      Anyways, give Zoe & Winston lots of loves for me....
