I  did post another writer(she does not write a series involving doxies or dogs normally) in another message BUT....
the author is Elaine Viets and it is one of her books in her Dead End Jobs series.
The book is called Murder Unleashed.
What I forgot to mention is there IS a doxie in it. The owner of the Pet Boutique owns a doxie named Lulu.  She is quite an active part of the story, since she is continuely in the store modeling various outfits, painted nails, etc.   She also has a habit of sneaking out the door and down the street to her favorite bar where she gets fed food she really likes!!

I must also confess after reading the other set of messages I went to the local Borders books store where I found the Four paperbacks I HAD to get!!  I found the Eichler book, the new Sue Henry book, a new one from the Reigning Cats & Dogs series and even the book  Bark M for Murder  which i have looked for before and NOT found until now. I even plunked down the full price for all four books without even blinking!!  At least 2 of those books were from authors I had found at Walmart before.   Although I will say that I did find Murder Unleashed at Walmart!!

Julia, I did look in the front of the Bark M book and the story by Virginia Lanier does have a 2006 copyright date, so it must be a new one.  I know after she had lost her husband and then gotten very ill herself she had announced that before the last book came out, it would be the last one. There was also quite a delay before she was able to complete that last book. So I was really happy to see even a short story.  It is about the same woman with her bloodhounds so any who have read the books will be happy to find this book too I think.

Very cool, Nancy, and good to know!  I must look for the Sue Henrys... and my stack of unread books must be multiplying.  I have at least a dozen unreads in my 2 stacks, and my aunt gave me a Nora Roberts trilogy that she didn't care for - no wonder!  It has vampires and werewolves!  :2funny:  But right down my alley.

I just picked up the first in the Sue Henry Series from the Library yesterday and have started on it. Randy and I read all of the Bloodhound books by Virginia Lanier and loved them. When she finally wrote the last one, I almost didn't want to read it because I knew the series would end at that time. I'll have to go and get Bark M for Murder so I can read the short story, at least.
I also need to go and look for the others. We have a wonderful used book store near by so that helps a lot. If they aren't there or the library, I guess I'll be paying full price!

I maybe should also mention the Lanier story is VERY short, only 30 pages long.  It is possible this might have been the beginning of another book, that they decided to edit down and then use as a short story.  That does not mean this story ended with questions.  It just made me hungry for more!!! It definitely has the flavor and actions of her other book, so maybe for some others who have not read any of hers, they might decide to look for them.

I confess I really loved her series, and in one way almost wish someone else would continue writing it, but I just do NOT think anyone could do it the way it would deserve to be done!
