I have 4 doxies Elmo and Oscar who are brothers and are the oldest at the age of 2 then Paython who just turned one and is my trouble maker and loves to eat everything (he ate a catus today) and the baby Little bit who was born 2-24-o7 yes 2 months old! I love them so much but i will have to go to work full time soon how do i make sure they will be ok while i am gone and   it might sound strange but i dont want them to think i am leaving them for good how do i tell them i will be back?   Thanks, Becky

Hi Becky!  I also have four and I have to be away from them for work as well.  The most important thing is that they are SAFE!  They know that you love them and they will adjust to your schedule as long as you are consistant and give them an environment that is secure and comfortable.  You have a small baby dog?  Are you crate training her?  A pup that age probably should not be in a crate for more than a few hours at a stretch.  Can you get home to let her out?  If not, maybe there is a friend or family member that could check on your furkids and let the baby out to potty.
A lot of people use x-pens and you can find out about those online or at your local pet supply store.  I have a doggy door and my four have access to a portion of the back yard and the kitchen.  The rest of the house is baby gated.
I'm sure that others here will be able to give you additional advice.  Good luck!

Hi Becky!  I just have one (and he's a handful).  We have to kennel him because Ozzy suffers from separation anxiety.  He scratched and chewed the moulding around the door from the house to the garage in an attempt to get out the door that his humans went through when we left him home.

I do run home over my lunch hour and let him out to stretch and go potty, and he seems happy with that arrangement.  A kennel gives him the security of a den-like surrounding.

Hi Becky do you have pictures of your 4? We'd love to see them.

How about an X Pen in the kitchen while you are at work? That would give them a little more room to move around all day. Once the routine is familair to them they will do fine.
