Today, Mom took Guinness and me to Druid Hill Park for the annual Maryland SPCA March for the Animals.  Of course, it's April so I'm thinkin' What is their deal?

THEN. . .I find out they don't mean March, they mean march!  As in walk all the way around the Druid Hill reservoir and collect pledges for every time you go around!  Are dees hoomans on drugs or what??!!??  It's got to be 40 or 50 miles around!  Well, maybe only 3/4 of a mile, but do the words "Bataan Death March" ring bells for anyone?  I mean, Guinness and I are DACHSHUNDS!  Doesn't Karen realize we have really short legs?  What is her deal?

AND. . . she's got three grandkids along!  Two of dem in a stroller!  I'm thinkin' of makin' a run for it, but then she gets to the registration desk and says, "I don't want to march, I just want to stroll around.  Will you take a check?"

Next thing I know, she donates $40 and we get two SPCA orange bandanas!

We spent around two hours strolling around, meeting and greeting.  What a great crowd!  Guinness pooped out at the end and had to ride back to the car in the stroller.  What a wimp!

Anyway, it was lots and of lots of fun and next year we get to go for the costume event.  I'm going as Little "Beau" Peep, and Guinness, Merlin and Roscoe are going as my sheep.  Cute idea, eh?

Where 'bouts in B-more do you live?  We're just down 70 in Damascus.   I guess Zeke and Dr. Leakey could set up practice in Columbia or Ellicott City.    Sounds like it was fun for all.

A Columbia address for such prestigious dachshunds as the estimable Drs. Leaky and Zeke would be preferred.  A much tonier locale than - sniff - Ellicott City. :glasses9:

Dr. Leaky currently resides and practices in Upper Park Heights in Northwest Baltimore.  He is currently in his "Dr. Schweitzer" phase, giving free consultations to one and all, in the spirit of volunteerism.
