On Monday of this week My husband had a heart attack on the couch early that morning. The classic heart attack.. called 911 went to hospital.. He had 5 stents put in and the doctor told me he would have open heart surgery in 2 months. I feel apart... Then on the way home I stopped for a bite to eat car breaks down. I get it going... Tuesday car breaks down again... Have back up car... Wed. car stops. I finally got it fixed. Husband came home does not have to have open heart just two more stents... He is 48 years old. 2nd heart attack. 1st one was @ 44, had one stent put in. Kept on smoking..... Doc told me if he does not quit will be dead in 2 months. He quit. Put the fear in him... Today friday has not been great... He is alive been giving a second chance ... I feel like I am going  crazy... I guess everyone has a bad week but, we just moved have not  and then this on top of Christmas. I told him this is your Christmas present another chance @ life. Smile, and be happy.  Poor Maggie she knew something was wrong but, did not know what  she kept crying @ her daddy when he was having his heart attack. I am glad I did not have to do cpr on him or he did not pass away then.  I feel blessed but, I am coping. Thanks for letting me talk everyone. :ambulance:  :bandaid:

I'm glad your husband survived the heart attack and is home. That is the most important thing. I just hate that everything else seemed to happen the same week. At least he did decide to quit smoking (and I hope he can stick to it) and the open heart surgery has been avoided.
Having just moved and Christmas on top of it is enough to make anyone feel that they are going to blow a gasket! We are always here for you to vent to. I'm sure Maggie is really cuddling with her daddy now!
I'm sure your husband will have to deal with the usual depression that can follow a heart attack. Giving up smoking at the same time may make it a little harder. Just be sure to get him to talk to his doctor if it seems to be worse than you think is normal. Even though you and everyone else knows he is lucky to be alive, it may take a little while for him to process that thought. I'll be saying a prayer for all of you.

Just now reading your post. It's been almost a month since your hubby had his heart attack...I hope he is doing much better and is still not smoking.
We have a friend who had a heart attack last Dec. He had a quintuple bypass! The Dr told him to quit drinking and smoking.........he's still doing both. We have tried to convince him that he needs to quit so he can be around for his son and grandkids...to no avail. He gets real melancholy when he is around us...I know he longs for the old days (14 yrs back) before his wife left him and he lost most everything. He's better off w/o her...honestly...but I know he loved her and still hasn't gotten over it.
Here's hoping your hubby will do well now that he has been given a new chance at life!!
Some day I hope to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am!!
