Well, it was bound to happen with all this rain.................Dan just called and our builder is over pumping the 4 inches of water out of our crawl space and fixing our leaking chimney.  D@MN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Guess our hill is saturated.
Bet the dogs are enjoying the company and howling in unison to keep Jeff the builder entertained.

When I get to the fair tomorrow, I'm going to go over to the beer garden and order up a double chardonnay!  Then I'm going to go have custom nametags made for my dogs, and buy them some real special treats.

I am going to treat myself to a good shopping spree at the fair.  Over the year I save all my ones and the occasional $5 and $10 in a big wine jug, and that is my mad money for the fair.  I usually save up around $300, but this year I only saved up $97.  Dan cashed in a jar of change......all the change we found when we packed up our old house......and was able to add another $70 to the pot.  I think I can have a pretty good time spending $170 in one day!!!

And its still raining as I am writing this............GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Yikes is right, Patty!  Bummer!  Bummer!!  Well, at least the spending spree at the fair will really be sweet.  And hopefully your house woes won't be as ugly tonight when you get home.  'Course, don't expect yelps of joy from the canine crew.  They'll be WAY hoarse from barking at the builder.  Give 'em all a hug for me, okay?  Rain, rain, go away.....

send it here we have not had any significant rain in months hence we are to go back on water restrictions soon.

Misty is the one who will be hoarse.  Jeff said that the boys always settle down and go back to sleep after "greeting" him, but Misty won't shut up!   :2funny:
You can see it on Willy and Alex's faces........"would someone PLEASE shut her up???!!!"
Thanks for the consolation Sandi.  I am SO bummed.   Jeff will take care of us, though.  He said that most new houses come with a one year guarantee from the builder.  But with us, its a lifetime guarantee, or for as long as Jeff and my sister are married.
Poor Jeff will never be rid of us.  Oh.......the Door From Hell......we have a door on our under-the-stairs closet, and it wasn't latching right.  So Jeff got it all fixed a couple weeks ago.  AND...guess what?  Its not closing right again.   :dontknow:
Oh well, I imagine our house is going through growing pains, and will have a few surprises as it goes through its first year with all the freeze/thaw stuff.
Pour me another chardonnay!!!

Oh no Patty!  I hope he is able to get the water out with minimal damage.  Thank goodness he is able to get right on it for you!
The fair sounds FUN!  You sure do deserve that double chardonnay!
By the way....if your Cranberry Conserve recipe is not a secret, would you mind sharing it?  I'd love to try it!  I like cooking with cranberries and I'm always looking for good recipes to give as gifts for the holidays.
Hope you take 1st place for your entries and enjoy spending your savings...fairs are just so great!

That's awful!!  I can definately understand your frustration.  Has the forecast for your area indicated when the rain will stop??  I hope it does soon!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck at the fair and have a blast spending your money!!!  Hope things start getting better soon.

The extended 10-day forecast is for rain, rain, rain.  This is unbelievable!  We're beginning to think it will rain until it turns to snow!  We normally get our first snowfall in November.  One thing about getting all this rain right now, we might not get as much snow this winter.  That happened 10 years ago.  It rained all summer long, and that winter it did not snow until the first week of February.  I loved it!!!  I was able to get out on my horse, on the horse trails in the woods all through the holidays.  It was great.  My heart does go out to the folks who got flooded out a week ago and how things are only getting worse for them.  We have always been able to offer a place for displaced horses if things get really bad.

Oh Patty - how frustrating...... you are very lucky to have a bulder that will always watch over you !!!  Hope he got you drained.  Big bummer with the door and other little things that are popping up....but with a new place - bound to happen.  Have a few of those toddies at the fair and enjoy !!!!  Guess the fair will still go on even in the rain ?!?!?!?!  Let us know what you buy with your coin money !!!!

So your house is having growing pains.  I can relate.  Our modular home has had 'em for 4 years.  In the summer, our back door won't stay shut.  Y'have to deadbolt it.  In the winter, it starts closing again and the master closet door starts to stick so it won't close. It's always somethng!

Poor boys.  I KNOW that look.  Dolly gives me the "make her stop" l@@K every time Maddie starts her shrilling thing...when papa sings, when we walk in the door, just for the heck of it.  For a little 10 pounder, she has a VERY loud voice.
