Porky here:  Those ouchie ears I had a month ago are back again!  Momma says that I have to take those drops again.  She says they help my ears heal, but I think she just likes to torture me with them.  I get real angry when she puts them in my ears. :cussing:  After she's done she always gives me a treat, but I wish I could get the treat without having those drops!  The vet told my momma that I have an ear effection.  And that means no swimming till I'm better.  UGH!!

Well, Porky has an ear infection again!  I'm kinda confused how he got it.  I clean his ears daily as reccommended by our vet and make sure his ears get dried out immediately after he's done swimming.  Maybe he just never fully healed from the first one and that's why he got another one so quickly.  He is taking ear drops for the infection and I think he is being a real good boy when I give them to him.  He has acted angry, but hasn't tried to bite or pull away.  He just gives me the most pitiful look and I can see in his eyes he's angry.    Any suggestions how I can keep future ear infections away?

Water in the ears can cause infection and its probably impossible to completely dry them out after swimming so that could be the cause right there. My dogs used to get occasional infections a few years ago my vet turned me on to this great ear wash although it was a bit pricey i started using it on all the dogs (twice a month ... too much cleaning can lead to more infections) and have not had a ear infection since... i also found out it is much cheaper to buy it online rather than from the vet. My vet charges $20 for 4oz... OUCH!!

Here are some links to check out -  it is great stuff!!

Willy was prone to ear infections, and nothing really helped until I started using good old rubbin alcohol.  I dump half a capful in each ear, rub his ears to get it down it there, then use a cotton ball to dab up the excess.  The alcohol helped dry out the ear and fight the infection.  It worked like a charm on Willy.  If you think rubbing alcohol (70%) is too strong, you can get a lesser alcohol one, or use Witch Hazel.  Hope this helps.
