Last Sunday, I was playing for the second hymn, one of my favorite hymns, when a fly started buzzing me.  There was nothing I could do, as hands and feet were busy.  I tried to blow at it to get it to fly somewhere else, but it kept flying around my head.  It finally left, but not after I had gotten so rattled that I forgot what verse we were on!!  Fortunately, I could hear what the congregation was singing and got back on track.

A few months ago, I was playing the Gloria when my eyes caught a movement above my head.  A spider was descending from the sanctuary ceiling.  Fortunately, it descended to the floor in front of the organ and went on its way - away from me, thankfully.

I wonder what's next...bats in the belfry???

LOL, your post reminded of when I was in high school and playing some special music for church during the hot summer months.  This was early 70's and the church didn't have a/c so the window right behind the piano was wide open.  I had spread my 6 pages of music across the piano and was playing along when a gust blew page 1 off onto the floor.  That wouldn't have been a big deal except I needed to repeat back to the beginning!!!  I kept looking at a "gentleman" sitting right in front row and then looking down at the music.  He just looked back at me like a deer on the highway.  I finally had to stop and pick up the music in order to continue.  Give me a spider any day over an idiot in the front row.
