What do I do when my Hoomans are away:  sleep and bark at dogs walking on MY street

Favorite Things:  Dad, food, hunting in the yard and garden, laying in the sun

Story about me that my Hoomans would like to share:
When a friend decided he was away from home too much I agreed to take Clifford.  Clifford was just about to hit 6 months old and I had known him since he was 10 weeks old and could fit in my hand!!!  The hitch was Clifford was to stay in his old home until after Christmas (about a month off).  Well, my aunt and one of her daughters wanted me to bring Clifford to Thanksgiving dinner because they liked dogs and but also to help ease the hearts one of her son’s family.  They had suddenly lost their 8-year old daughter to an aneurysm during the summer and they all liked small dogs.  Well, Clifford got to come to dinner with us and was the recipient of much attention, hugs, kisses (given and received), food, hugs, and did I say food?  He ended up not going back to his almost home, but stayed with me from that day on.  I give thanks every day for the joy he has brought from the first moment he ran through my aunt’s door all those years ago.

The first picture is one of the earliest I took of Clifford as a puppy at about 7 months.  I was just discovering that dachshunds like to burrow under things to sleep.
The second was taken this past April on a sunny spring day....great for napping in the sun.

Happy DOD, Clifford!  You're such a sweet boy, and I love the heartwarming story your dad told about your Gotcha day.  Chilie also likes to play with a hand moving under the covers.  I think it's her favorite game!

Next time we come to Chicago it will hopefully be a longer stay, and we will hopefully have Chilie with us, so perhaps we could get together!  My sister and her husband are building a new home in Yorkville.....not too far from your neck of the woods!

Belly rubs and kisses to you, Clifford!

Happy DoD, Clifford!  I hope you get some food and belly rubs from Dad today.  Maybe you can score another mouse, vole, or possum and make your day complete - I wouldn't cross my paws to get that groundhog, though!  Brekke sends smooches, too.

Yorkville is indeed my neck of the woods.  I am anywhere from 2 miles to 8 miles from the "official" border depending on which development we are speaking about.  Do you know where the house is located?

Love the story of how you got him. He was such a cute little guy when you got him! He's now a very handsome and distinguished fellow! I love the bottom picture of him, makes me want to curl up next to him in those blankets and listen to him snooze. He reminds me a lot of my Dad's Jody. Happy DOD Clifford!!!

Do you know where the house is located?

Not exactly.  We didn't have time to go and see the site while we were there.  She did say that they're not far from the train station, which they're going to be extending out to Yorkville.

There is a "park and ride" that shuttles people to the station in downtown Aurora just down the road from the latest Yorkville watertower.  That particular area is about 2.5 miles from me.  The train tracks that actuallly run through Yorkville are for freight only so I would guess she will be near the park & ride.
