....when I hit the "place your pin" button it shoots me back to the map of the Lower 48.

If you can choose the world view and place your pin while in that view it works - I tried doing it with my pin and was successful.

It still is viewable in AK.

Looks like you got it placed. But in any case once it reloads the US map you can change it to Alaska by selecting it from the pulldown menu just below the forum buttons and it will load the zoomed Alaska map for you. :thumb:
