I am very upset because I was really looking foward to the move!  My exhusband, who is not very involved with my girls, decided that he was going to try to block me from moving out of the state and country with the girls.  It was going to turn out to be a long drawn out court battle, that could possibly end up with Eric sitting in Japan by himself for 3 years.  Since it was a voluntary assignment, the air force allowed him to back out of the position.  We are starting proceedings to modify my agreement to make sure we don't have this problem again.  We figure if we fix it before we get orders, everything should be fine.  We are looking at assignments in Japan, Australia, Europe and in the states.  I would love to get something in Germany, so we wil be in the center of things.  There would be a lot of chances to tour Europe and Germany would make a good starting point.  We are very disappointed, but we don't want to take a chance of being separated, because of a trouble making ex husband.  I will let you know when our proceedings are finished and we get a new assignment.

As disappointing as this is, I think you are making the best decision in not taking the chance of having Eric over in Japan while you are here. Hopefully this will be worked out quickly (and I will send up some prayers that it will) and you will get a wonderful new assignment soon.
One of the things that frustrates me most in divorce situations is when the non-custodial parent fails to think of the child's feelings in anything and just enjoys using them to hurt or get even with the other parent. My ex-sister-in-law does this sometimes and it takes all I have not to pick up the phone and tell her what I think about it!

I know that must be disappointing.  I'm sorry.  One thing is that this just shows what a great husband and stepdad Eric is though, as he's willing to give up the job he really wants to be sure that he'll get to be with all of you.

Keep us posted, and hang in there.  (((((hugs))))

You are right Krista, Eric is definately a great husband and step father.  He REALLY wanted this position, but put his family above his job.  I am hoping that something else comes along once we get everything settled, just make up for him giving this up.   I definately found one of the good ones!

I am so sorry - but as others have said - what a godsend Eric is - to put his family first and foremost.  You will get there someday....but I will be sending those powerful doxie rays and prayers that you get another assignment that works out well for your family.  Now you know what you have to do and can get past that obstacle!!!!  Please keep us updated - we are rooting for you !

I agree with what Barb, Krista and Teresa -- Eric, I salute you for putting your family first and for doing that you are a diamond!  Doxie rays and prayers are coming your way as you work through all this with the "ex"!

Julie, I was just thinking this morning-Maybe Austrailia will get to happen after all! That would be a great reward for Eric putting everyone first! I, too, hope you get another great assignment since he delayed Japan. I also hope it all works out quickly while the girls are at an age where it is still something exciting to do. Remind Eric that we are all proud of him for what he does everyday.
We are doing a patriotic musical at our church next weekend and one song is a medley of the different branches of the armed forces songs. A lady I work with has a son who is doing his basic training for the army right now. It takes all I have to get through that part. It is so easy for everyone to forget what is going on in the world daily and what our men are doing.

Oh Julie, I'm so sorry.  I know you were really looking forward to it.  Still...I agree completely with everyone else.  At least you will all be together.  Plus, selfishly, it's nice to know your right over the bridge!

well, poop.
I am sending gypsy curse out to your ex.  Soon he will have toenail fungus, thinning hair and really bad gas.  Then he'll get a flat tire in the rain.  Maybe a bad rash...
BUT you have ERIC and he sounds GREAT!!!!!  What a guy.  Give him a big  from us here at the Circus
