Max has developed a very bizarre behavior.   In the morning, he gets up, does his business and then barks to be fed.   I set his food dish down...and HE DOESN'T EAT!   How un-dachsie-like!   Normally, I would be very alarmed by this behavior.  Max is a very old guy and a loss of interest in food tends to be a warning sign that he is sick.   However, this is where it gets weird:  I go, take my shower, etc., and I re-set his food, usually 30 - 45 minutes later...and he eats every morsel.   I can't comprehend this behavior.   We're pretty sure that Max is slipping mentally, but the slipping has always been exacerbations of behaviors that he has shown throughout his life...this one just came out of left field.

Maybe he is just reminding you so YOU don't forget !!!  Sweet Max......I can understand the getting old part and erratic behaviour - it will happen to all of us.  It is mind boggling though when our puppers do something completly out of the ordinary and trying to figure out why !!!  Sending Max smoochies and sweet rubs and blessings that he is here with us !

Maybe Max likes to eat after your shower, bur he barks for it early to make sure he gets it?  Gretl did that towards her golden days - but she had to stand guard so the others wouldn't eat it.  Sweet Max doesn't have to worry about other marauding dachsies!
