Here's a picture of my new foster Stormy. He's about 2 years old, 14 pounds.

This handsome boy was turned into Miami Animal Control because he was sick.  :cussing:

But he went to the vet today and had blood taken and a urinalysis. I'll get results by Monday. In the meantime, he's been given some doxycycline (perfect drug for a doxie, I guess) that will hopefully go to work on his cough.

Once he's well, he'll be up for adoption (hint, hint).  :angel4:

His original name was Spiker, but I thought Stormy fit better considering the conditions currently in South Florida.

I had another foster, Lexi, for one day, but another foster home stepped up to take her.

Gosh, did you go out in the storm to rescue him?  I am happy you seem safe down there!  Hope you stay safe and the power stays on!  Stormy looks great, why would people just give up such a pretty face?  Our prayers are with you and the new boy, hope his tests come back well!

Oh, what a cutie.  I know he will do well in your care, Mack.  Welcome to a better life Stormy.  The Gang sends slurpy kisses your way.  You can have some too, Mack.

Gosh, did you go out in the storm to rescue him?

No, it wasn't quite that dramatic. I picked him up yesterday when the hurricane was still offshore, but I thought as I was going to the vet today that he needed a new name. The shelter had him as Spiker, and I didn't quite get that.  :thinik:

Mack, Stormy is sooooo cute!  The name fits him perfectly....good choice!  :thumb:  I'm sure Stormy won't have any trouble finding a forever home.  How are your three with him?

I have often thought about getting another doxie; I would love for Chilie to have a companion.  Unfortunately, we are not allowed more than one pet where we are renting.  We are looking into buying a house (preferrably one with a nice backyard!)  Once that is done, I would seriously like to consider getting another doxie.

I am going to try this again, my computer froze and my post didn't post, so here we go again!  I hope everything is back on for you and you did well in the storm!  I have a question for you, I have friend that live in the Melborne area, across from the zoo, in Viera!  They are Mom and Dad and 3 boys.  Boys are 16, 14 and 9 years old.  They have 3 middle aged cats, very mellow and cute!  Their boys just love my dachshunds!  They have been considering a doxie puppy, but I told them about rescue and adopting an older dog.  She is a teacher and he does computer work!  They had wanted to wait until next year school break to be home with a new pupper for a couple months before school starts.  Before I talk to them, I was wondering if you think Stormy might be a match for them?  They have a fenced yard, unless another hurricane blows through!  LOL  Last year the fence was blown away twice!  Their kids were nice and great with my puppers, they treat the cats like kings!  What do you think!  Thanks, just trying to help find Stormy a forever home!

Dottie,

I really appreciate the interest in Stormy. I'd say it's too early to tell. Because Stormy is sick with possible kennel cough, I've had him separated from my three doxies in a separate part of the house. Therefore I really haven't had a chance to assess his personality. I want to see him interact with my dogs, and I want to take him to the dog park to get him around some other people. He was VERY interested in a couple of cats when I took him to my vets. So, it's going to be a few weeks. But I'll post more when I know more.

Let me know about him or another for them, if you think they may fit, thanks and I hope he is better really soon, we'll keep him and you in our prayers! :angel4:

Hey, Mack....have you gotten any results back on Stormy yet....

Yes, he has an upper respiratory infection and a urinary tract infection, both being treated. He's still coughing and sneezing, but it seems to be lessened. He's due back for followup tests next week. I'm still keeping him separated from my others, which I hate because he really wants to play.

He's a really muscular guy. Very thick, hardly any fat on him.

Stormy, my foster boy with Almost Home, is now ready for adoption. His cough has cleared up and he's ready to go. There is a listing for him at http://drwp.net/florida.html. You'll have to scroll down a ways to see his writeup and photo. There will also be one soon on the Almost Home web page.

I am so glad he is well and ready for his forever home...I read his profile...have you had him near cats yet?  I emailed the page to my friends in Melborne.   They so want to adopt but they have those 3 cats!  Hugs and belly rubs to Stormy!  I sincerely hope the only storms left in his life is just his name!
