My household recently downsized and now I'm a single mom to Berman and Lucy.  I had gotten them this thing that attaches to their hug-a-doxes and connects them together so I can use one leash.  They are such strong little things that they just drag me around the neighborhood.

We've been pretty lucky so far - any dog we've encountered has been on a leash.  Well today, there was a guy working in his yard and he had a boarder collie sitting next to him - no leash.  Berman and Lucy didn't even see this dog, but the other dog started running toward us.  I wasn't sure if he was going to attack me or the dogs or what!  I tried to keep quickly walking the kids, but this other dog just kept coming.  Well, Berman and Lucy finally noticed him and freaked out!  I scooped them up and was trying to calm them down while they were barking and wiggling like crazy and this other dog was just running in circles around me- it was quite a site.  The guy came and got his dog which ended up being absolutely petrified of Berman and Lucy - so much so that he was peeing all over the place! Berman had wiggled around so much that he came completely out of his hug-a-dox so this guy had to hold his dog and Lucy while I tried to wrestle with Berman and get him back in his harness.  Needless to say, it caused quite a scene - everyone was outside working in the yards and all!

Berman and Lucy: We rule the neighborhood!  We keep telling everyone that when they walk by our house.  Guess we had to prove our point today!

Jenny - So sorry to hear about your change in household - I hope you are doing ok.   If you need to talk - I am here !  Send me an PM or e-mail.

My dogs go nuts too when we encounter dogs while walking - most of them are on leash - but every once in a while one is off.  Even if they are on leash - mine start barking and pulling to get over to sniff the dog.  I know sometimes people don't want their dogs to interact and it is tough to rein in those 2 determined doxies !

I"m sorry Jenny!  I hope you and the furbabies are doing well.

Reading your post made me get all tense then start laughing at the visual!  So glad they were friendly!  Maybe they can make a new friend sometime!

You've really got to watch those rascally weiner dogs.  My friend was walking his two greyhounds at Yellowstone Park a couple of years ago when they were attacked by a standard Dachshund.  He was rather indignant about the whole ordeal--none of the dogs were hurt.

Those tandem leashes are great--I was surprised that Berman was able to get loose!!  Luther and Heidi would both pull in the same direction, which seemed to strengthen the system and keep them out of trouble.

Sorry to hear about your household situation.   At least you didn't have to downsize in the dachsie department!

I tried using the tandem leashes once or twice with Rudy & Max.  It never worked.  The two of them kept on going in different directions and couldn't figure it out.   Rudy was stronger than Max and would simply just drag Max along with him.  Max just couldn't get it and would look at me with a look of utter confusion.   I ended up discarding the tandem leash.  I may still have it out in the garage, or I might have given it away.   If anyone wants to give it a shot, and I can find mine, I'll be glad to mail it out to you.

Sorry to hear about the down size. you know we are their if you need us. I've had a few scares like that, the more you try to get them to go in one direction the worst it gets, I often think they feel our fear.
