I got this email from my sister who lives in Homer, Alaska with her daughter Kasey.

{"...hi all...
just a quick note....
Today/Friday they canceled school here on the Lower Peninsula, including
Homer..because of the Mt Augustine eruptions....so Kasey and I had a day
off...
We've been busy getting our emergency stuff together...there have been
three eruptions today...4am, 8:30am, and 11:30am...we are supposed to be
getting some ash fall from the 8:30 eruption by now, but I don't see
any...the 11:30am ash fall is supposed to hit us around 4pm...

So kasey and I have been using our extra day to prepare ourselves for a
tsunami...I cleaned out the truck, put the dog and cat kennels together,
put sleeping bags and pads in the truck, filled our 6 gal water
container...Kasey put all the stuff she would want to take with her in
case of an emergency in a rubbermaid bin, and packed her backpack..she's
ready in case we have to abandon the house and head for higher ground.
I still need to get a few things together...we have to realize these Mt
Augustine eruptions could possibly cause a tsunami and I plan to be
ready... We have all seen what these natural disasters can do, and it
takes planning and action prior to the event to be responsible and
prepared for what ever happens...We are going to be ready...

If a tsunami occurs we will simply get our pets in the truck, throw our
stuff in and take off to higher ground...We've already decided to head to
Hal's house...he lives on the hillside...only about five minutes from our
house...Kasey agrees that would be a great place to go...He has a nice
house...guess I better tell him of our plans, huh?

so I got to go now and continue packing my bags...
it's been a fun day so far...
tata...
I love you all...
