I suddenly realized I didn't introduce my new girl, Torene , a chocolate/tan dapple. She is now 16 months old, and I still consider her to be a puppy, because she's a voracious chewer. So far, the count is 4 dog beds, 4 ink pens, my current top sheet has over a dozen tears, and countless pieces of paper. Her first family adopted her at a local shelter, and since her birth date is 8/22/17, I have a feeling she was born there, and also that her mother was probably adopted before she and her brother were ready or much socialized. Something traumatic probably happened to her at the shelter, because she is very anxious at sudden moves or noises, and she panics and hides when an adult male is near. Her first family never could get her to relax around the dad, and they felt so sorry she was living like this, so after a meet'n'greet here with my girls, Beth left her with me. She has begun to snuggle under the covers in the last week, and she actually climbed into my lap last week for the first time, so there is some progress.
I am continuing to offer her super tough Nylabones rather than unacceptable items to chew, so that's a work in progress, too.
