I know there's still a couple people who check this page out that may not be on Facebook. We just saw on DD's Facebook that Hallie went to the Bridge today. Hallie was the WW's superstar. I feel like we've lost one of our own furkids, even though I never met DD or Hallie in person.
I was coming here to do the same thing. In my mind, Hallie will always be alive and living with Dee Dee. It is hard to imagine it being any other way. My heart is breaking for Dee Dee, and for anyone who never got to read about or hear about the special love between those two.
I read her post and just burst out crying.......Hallie was one of those special souls......
Heartbreaking....... and I so agree, it feels like one of our own....... My heart aches for Dee Dee.....
Hugs to you David and Teresa........
It always feels like its one of our own and it really hurts.
I remember the how we knew Hallie and DeeDee were meant for each other all those years ago. I happened to be wearing my DeeDee "dancing dachshund" t-shirt when I saw the post on Facebook. Sometimes serendipity hurts a lot.
I'm so sorry to hear of Miss Hallie's passing Hugs to Dee Dee and may Miss Hallie Rest in Peace she was such a wonderful Fur Kid for Deedee. I guess I was expecting it since I kept asking about her. If anyone uses Facebook can you please give Deedee my condolences.
I, too, saw her post on FB. I know her heart is breaking so much for her little girl. I am crying with her, because it's so hard to say goodbye, and Hallie was a once in a lifetime friend. :grouphug:
When I first started on here, there would be a Doxie that would die that I didn't know very well, and the older members would talk about it feeling like a member of the family. Now that I have been here almost eleven years, I understand so well what they meant. I think Louie was the first one that really got to me, but we have also had Max, Rudy, Miss Amy, the Alaska kids, and a few more. It is hard to believe that Hallie was only three when I first posted on this board.
I have found a French Bulldog forum, to get advice and share the antics of Pierce, but it is nothing like this group of people. We are truly a special group, connected by our love of our little long dogs.
DeeDee rescued Hallie and two other doxies from a nearby shelter 14 years ago - presumably litter mates. One went to Texas, we were fortunate enough to get Hallie's sister Sophie from DeeDee who made the trip to Iowa to deliver her. Four years ago the sisters met again when DeeDee came to Iowa to seek help for Hallie's blindness. Last year we lost Sophie to bladder cancer and now they are both gone. Heartbroken does not even cover it. I am not sure anyone can truly comprehend how close DeeDee and Hallie were. They were inseparable. It would be impossible to calculate how many Hallie has been an inspiration to and how many shelter pets she helped through her painting. I am proud and humbled to have known the both of them. Praying for comfort and peace for DeeDee.
ditto, Rich,
We never have had the pleasure to meet either, as we live a wee bit far away. I only wish I was closer, but at times like this I know you just want your own space for a while.
Roberta Nick and the monsters
It seems like Hallie was always there...happy to be around, tail flying...if a dog could smile it was Hallie. We will miss her; but, she has many friends waiting at the Bridge and she is not alone. My condolences to DeeDee for her loss...
We are so very sorry to read this. I am one of those who does not use Facebook and can only eco what everyone else has said. Both Hallie and DeeDee have always been at the heart of this board community and losing Hallie to our pals at the bridge leaves us all bereft.
All our love and deepest sympathy goes out to poor DeeDee.
This is the first I've been back on the board.....
What a kick in the teeth. Have we heard from DeeDee lately? How is she coping? I would be devastated.
Hallie had the hu-mother that she deserved and the two of them are only separated physically. Each lives within the either, and always will.
DeeDee was pretty miserable for a while, but she did go through a lot of photos and picked out some wonderful pics of Hallie-Angel and posted them on her Facebook wall. A few weeks ago, she adopted a little black-and-white Havanese puppy now named Sophie. She even managed to get a picture of Sophie running as Hallie had done, and posted them side-by-side with ears flying and the same front paw in air. Sophie is about 4 months old, and Dee Dee has already potty-trained her, so it sounds like she is on the mend, while still missing her little Rembrandt.
