Post by: Norman on September 27, 2014, 07:18:46 AM
Almost 4yrs ago Simon lost a nail and believe it or not it started growing back last week!It now appears it may be starting to in-grow.So its back to the cone the last few days and a trip to the vet later this morning.

Good Luck at the vets, remember Simon give them the l00k so you will get treats.

Sorry for the belated update.

There's no doubt its in-grown.Options are few for a 14+yr old doxie, right now its the antibiotic Cephalexin for the next 3 weeks, pain meds if needed and of course his cone. The hope is that the nail will push thru and grow normally on its own,if this does not work then surgery is the only other option and that's a frightening option. The other downside of this surgery is post surgical pain...it will be painful afterwards for him.

With losing our Benji and now Simon's mounting issues its just been one hell of a year.

Its now been three weeks and nothing has changed. There's no infection and the nail hasn't grown any so I guess that's kind of a good thing but the vet will have to make that determination.
