We can hardly believe so long has gone by since we drove the 12 hour round tip to Chinchón, near Madrid, to collect Islay at just over 4 months old from her mother, father and sister and breeder (Pablo Gonzalez Lage, Golage, the national judge for correct breeding law in Spain). We took Red with us (also bred by Pablo and with as of about 10 months previously to collect his baby sister and he shared his bowl, water and beds sweetly with Islay from the very first moment.
Red also showed her the ropes and we didn't have one single piddle out of place even though we have wooden floors and live on the second floor in a flat so getting down to sea front piddling level is not easy for a youngster. Red will be 12 next month and is still keeping an eye out for his little sis: he is a miniature and Islay is a kaninchen so size matters too, not just age in this case.
Islay gave us a big scare 10 days ago when she suddenly started peeing a continuous stream of blood. A huge haemorrhage, vicious infection detected after specimen tests and no abnormal cells, growths, tumors etc. after ultrasounds, scans etc. safe after massive blood transfusions and antibiotics, tomorrow is her last non-medicated screening to check we are all-clear. she is perky, nipping at Red´s beard to make him play, bringing us her ball and toys and generally looking well. Let´s hope tomorrow brings the best possible news. *****update: all clear from this last Friday's tests, what a relief!*****
No budget left for a big party but we had fresh fish, crisp raw carrots and a special cool swim and massage followed by intensive snuggling.
´nighty night to all our pals, treats all around,
birthday girlie Islay,
big brother Red &
Andrea & Miguel.
trying to figure out what is going on !
Senorita Islay, I'm sorry I missed your big day last week. Good to see you are on the rebound. Hunter thinks your day at the spa (massage and snuggling) and dinner sounds pretty good.

Buenos días to you two!
The board didn't work for a few days so couldn't post text or piccies so it's nice to get belated wishes now, thank you.
Hunter has a great viewing spot there and we are quite envious.
Red seems to be channeling Clifford as he has taken to waking Miguel with enthusiastic face and nose licking in the wee hours!
Wondering how the big vote in Scotland will go......
Love to both of you,
Andrea
Happy belated Birthday sounds extra nice day, Patches & Buddy.

Now we know. Hopefully the country can move forward together. In honor of my Scottish ancestors who voted with their toes and came to America I am wearing a plaid shirt today. Co-incidentally a Facebook group I joined last summer, Chicago Men in Kilts, is getting together tonight for the monthly gathering at a Chicago pub for drinks of choice, food and camaraderie. Scottish blood is not required.

I love the sound of your Chicago men in kilts group, shame we are too far away to join in, sounds like quite a ceilidh!
We nearly got Miguel into a kilt once: unfortunately not long enough to photograph since the kilt belonged to my Uncle Ian who was just five feet tall and Miguel is well over six feet. Way too short for comfort or decency!
I don't get to wear mine much over here as it's too hot.
Here's to another 307 years of the union then.
