Title: Missy a little under the weather
Post by: Barry on September 06, 2014, 06:50:43 AM
I would go to the "health page" but probably more read this.
I came home the other day and Missy had pooped in her cage.  Unlike her, but the stool looked normal. I let her out and she was straining to poop and when I looked she had diarrhea.  She came back in and wouldn't eat her treats,  She then threw up after that and then again late at night.  She was very timid and not alert.  Came home the next day and she was more alert but still had diarrhea (very liquid with a little blood) .Fed her some scrambled egg which she later threw up.  Came home the next day and she was some better and more alert.  I took her to the vet and they did blood work and it came back fine also they did a sample of stool and said it looked good (no parasites)  They gave me some meds for diarrhea and a shot for nausea.  I have been feeding her boiled chicken and she is eating well and not throwing up, she is pretty normal alert wise and playful, but the diarrhea still persists ( a little firmer but not much) and there is still some blood streaked in it.

The vet wondered if she at something that is obstructing her bowel.  She doesn't eat anyting that is not food (no plastic etc)  She has really improved other than the diarrhea.  could this ve a virus? Or something more serious? Pancreatitis, coilitis or something?  She is 9.
