Title: Vet says Patches has a herniated disk
Post by: papbouv on June 02, 2014, 11:57:45 AM
Vet says Patches has a herniated disk started her on a new medication Dermaxx 25mg 1/2 tablet once a day then I have Methocarbamol 500mg 1/4 of a tablet q 8-12 hours  & tramadol 50mg 1/4 tablet 8-12hours for pain. This time the vet gave her a pain shot Burenorphine ? One of the reasons I took her to the vet was she did not poop yesterday or yet today usually she poops fist before she even pees in the mornings. I reminded him but he did not want to give her anything + said do not worry about it. I said with pain pills would it not constipate her he said dogs usually do not have a problem ? I read on Dogerslist.com they usually give a stool softener with  pain medication ? I was thinking of giving her a teaspoon of Pumpkin with her food just until she does poop ???? Pumpkin is good for constipation & diarrhea  do not know how but I have read that somewhere anyone have any ideas??? Patches not happy in jail now will be for awhile some rays would be appreciated hoping she does not get any paralysis sure do not want to put her to sleep she alerts me when my blood sugar goes low sometimes.

I don't see why pumpkin would hurt.  I am not a vet, but that would seem easier for all concerned, to do a fruit rather than another med.     for your baby!

yeah poop she finely relaxed enough to go guess the shot relaxed her she was super tense now giving pain meds she acts like nothing is wrong but just the pain meds working she will not be a happy camper when hubby goes to bed and she will be all alone in the living room. No room in my bedroom to put her crate in here with me hubby has room but would not understand also does not want dogs in his room ?Men.
