Title: baby bird in the house!
Post by: Brekkesmom on November 21, 2013, 10:28:43 PM
Just rescued a baby bird from the mouth of Rowan, one of my female dachsies. She had brought it in the house, when I suddenly realized she had feathers hanging out of her mouth! It got loose and was in the sliding door track, so I sort of closed it in with my room divider. I grabbed some paper towels, found where it had hopped, managed to gather it in, and took it outside where I thought it should be safe for tonight. It hopped away, so I hope it'll be all right.

Reminds me of Rudy's Christmas Bird story...except Rudy only got feathers.     When I brought the bird in, I put it in Rudy's kennel.   How was I supposed to know it was small enough to find its way out and start flying all over my condo?

David, I actually thought of Rudy and the Christmas Bird as this was going down.  As far as I know, it was Rowan's first bird - the boys have caught birds before, without good results for the bird.  I saw a small fluffy bird by the same tree when I went out yesterday morning via the garage door, to check the yard first.  I got out to the tree and it hopped/ran very fast and hid in a low pile of lumber by my fence.  I let the dogs out the back, quickly moving to guard the side yard to prevent any mishaps.
