Title: Checking in...
Post by: doxielady5569128 on November 11, 2013, 09:10:59 PM
We are doing okay. Our new bird,  Jack is quite entertaining and I think Porky likes him home during the day. I have a new job that I live and it allows me to be home more. Ill try and be better about posting in here more often too!!!

Porky is battling bad teeth again.  :doah: Despite daily brushing,  etc... he has at least two teeth that will need pulled at his dental on the 22. One is his canine tooth on the right side. I could see it was bad but was trying to save it! Then tonight I noticed its getting loose. The other is the tooth right next to the canine. So frustrating to watch him losing so many teeth! We are hoping their aren't any oral tumors hiding under his tongue or cheek. The tumor breath has returned so we are all a little concerned.

Other than the tooth issues,  Porky has been great!! He had a very minimal allergy year and has hardly wheezed at all! Hope everyone else is doing well too.

Sorry to hear about Porky's  toothy problems everyone here going to the  vets for shots going to see if they will clean Patches teeth could not brush them when her neck was wonkie. Burt's bees has a tooth product for dogs I liked it very much will use it after Patches gets her teeth cleaned. I also use the product you put in the water seems to help keep the teeth a little cleaner don't think the vet will have to work to hard getting the tarter off. Rays & Hugs to Porky ahead of time before he sees the vet maybe their will be no tumor.

Schatzi is desperate for a cleaning. I am afraid to even think of how many teeth she may lose, it is on my list for next month or right after Christmas at the latest.
I hope Porky does well and am so glad the allergies were better.
We have Randy's mom's bird now and I wish he was as fun as Jack. She got two young parakeets together and I think that was the issue. They entertain each other and are harder to get to interact with a human. Skye Is okay, but not as fun as some. He does let you know when his treat stick is gone!!!

We use toothpaste,  the stuff you put in his water and put a gel on every night! But we are still seeing the quick decay of some teeth. Its beyond frustrating,  but I am determined to save his remaining teeth.

Teresa,  Usually the parakeets are only interested in human interaction if they start very young and are by themselves. Jack wont let me hold him yet except to sit on my hand to eat. But he is very interested in tweeting to me. Lol! He doesn't know any words but has learned a few whistles and loves to "dance" when the radio is on. If you have a tablet or smartphone Skye might enjoy watching youtube videos of other birds.  Jack sure loves watching Disco.

Fingers and pawsies crossed that his teeth are not as bad as the might seem and there is no tumour there.  Poor little mite, rotten allergies under control and now mouth hassles, it is not fair.  Well done you for having such a complete oral hygiene routine, that really is impressive, Porky is good to go along with it too.

Red is 11 and has had his teeth cleaned twice and had calculus build- up again now.  Islay is 10 and has never had them cleaned and has only the faintest hint of discolouration at the gum line on her back teeth only.  Same food, same PlaqueOff on their food, same  dry fish treats etc.   just like people, their saliva varies considerably.

Hilde and I are sending extra rayz for Porky's teeth pull and rayz that there are no tumors lurking there.  Hilde is doing great and other than the cold weather coming upon us, we can't complain.  Hope all others are doing well, too.

We have birdies in my yard and they are terrible pesty creatues. I caught a baby and da mudder bird dive bombed me. Good fing my mamma was dere to protect me and get me in da house before I lost an eye. whew  Dat mudder waited on da eavestrough of my house for hours. Momma had to take me out da front door so I could take care of my business. (I don't do that in the house any more) I'm a good boy. Take care.......Parker
