If Hunter is lying on the futon or sofa with a blanket he likes to wad up the blanket and stuff his mouth full. He doesn't chew it, just lays there with his mouth full.

I have actually tried to get pictures of it....but the pictures don't do it justice - it doesn't show how much blankie is crammed in his mouth !!!! Toby has to bunch it all underneath his body too....... Silly boys we have Mike !
My parents had a dox that did this. Almost always had a mouth full of blanket when he took a nap.
I am just :2funny: my head off! I'd love to see this.
OCD behavior ???

I need to get a video of Toby going to bed at night. He sleeps with me in the big bed..and when I turn on the hall light, and final potties are done, and snack done, he grabs a blankie, drags it down the hall, carries it up the ramp and does his bunching routine to get settled! It is too funny......
Not sure if Hunter does, but Toby actually "nurses" the moutful of blankie - just like a pacifier. He will do that until he finally goes to sleep, whether at night in the big bed, or when we are in the living room.
Well......Duggie like pacifiers and will suck them and when he is done, hides them. We finally got him his own "binky" because he was always stealing Reagan's when she threw it on the floor. She only has it now when in the car so we don' t have to be on constant binky control when Reagan is here. But, Duggie still has his!
Duggie, it's okay. Some doggies never wanna grow up.
Slurpy kisses from Bonnie
Here is Hunter in inaction with the blanket.
Mike - that is exactly what Toby does........
Sounds like Hunter is fitting in. I have never heard of a dog cramming blankets in his mouth but it sounds very cute!
Rudy-angel was a blanket chewer. I was told this behavior happens when up puppy is weaned from its mother too early.
Would think he would ha very a very dry mouth in no time, does he drink alot of water? I do know some Doberman's suck on blankets luckly Buddy does not he just goes in circles with a toy in his mouth. Think putting a blanky in the mouth might be a better option.
No, surprisingly he doesn't drink a lot of water.
That is to funny and cute and Romeo does the same thing he will put his baby (stuffed toy) in his mouth and just suck on it also LOL :)
Well, this is turning into the latest characteristic of dachshunds I've learned. Waaay back 2000 when I found this site I discovered I wasn't nuts and their feet really do smell like Fritos.
Wilson used to do something similar with his squeeky toys. He'd chomp down, hold it for awhile, let go (sqeek) and then chomp down again.
We had a bulldog mix many years ago that did this. She had a fuzzy slipper that she stole/adopted and that is how she went to sleep all the time. She nursed that slipper. She was one we were pretty sure had been weaned early and it makes a lot of sense. I love the picture of Hunter!
Danni does that except she does it with her toys.
how is life with the little bugger these days?
???
Life is good. As of today he is officially mine.

Excellent!
Be sure to send his foster mother an email and a photo from time to time. We fosters love to see how our former charges are doing.
When we got Ivy as a pup, she was about 12 weeks, she used to suck on Tristan's ear and she did the same with Murphy's ears when he arrived and she is now 3.5 - baby girl
