I picked up a new stuffed toy for each of my three last weekend. Buelah and Oscy immediately started to chew on theres and look for the squeekers. Toby ran outside with his, dug a hole and buried his. He does the same with his chewies. I brought the toy back in and put it in his crate. Again, he dragged it outside and re-buried it. Generally he is really good about sharing with the other two but if he thinks it's "his only" he wants to hide it. I'm wondering if this may have something to do with his previous bad life. Should I keep trying to get him to stop this or is it best to just let him do what he thinks he needs to do?
Oh ... one more thing for those who prayed and sent rays while the Tobster was so sick. At the height of his illness he was down to seven pounds. He now weighs in at a rolly polly 13 pounds. His coat is silky and his teeth are looking better all the time. The fungus on his nose is GONE and the hair has started to grow back. He is one handsome dude if I do say so myself! I'm hoping to get some pics of the three of them posted this weekend.
I would say to just let him hide them......I know Rudy every once in a while will want to hide his chew. He gets so anxious trying to find a hiding place and if he does hide it and I go close to it - he is there digging like a madman and hiding it again ! Toby may eventually grow out of it as he becomes more and more comfortable in your home. SO glad he is doing well - can't wait to see the pictures of the Tobster and his siblings !!!
First off, great news about Toby's recovery! I can't wait to see pictures of the three of them. Minna likes to hide her toys, but she hides them in the couch under the cushions. I can't tell you how many times I have sat down on the knotted end of a rope bone. Ouch!
Taffy keeps trying to bury her chews. I've been trying to figure out what we can provide her with indoors that will satisfy her. She covers them with the blanket in her basket, then moves them, returns them, moves them ....makes herself crazy :BangHead: We refuse to let her take any outside to bury any. We make her check them at the door.
If anyone thinks of a good indoor substitute burying ground, let me know.
