Today is Schatzi's barkday! I can't believe my girl is nine years old now. She is starting to get a tad bit of gray. I think it is really bothering Randy. He had her outside last week and said he noticed the sun hitting a couple of silver hairs. Said he felt a little teary.
She is in great shape right now. Randy walks her 4 days a week for about 15 minutes and they walk fast. I hope they can keep it up during the colder months.
I am looking for something to keep her warm. Sweaters do not fit. Even the fleece jackets with the Velcro are pushing it with her deep chest. I have looked at the company that makes the hug-a-dox harnesses, but their fleeces are made to be worn with the harness. That means $31 plus another $24-29. Yikes! Any other suggestions?
Cozy Horse.com made Patches coat she has really short legs but the coat fits well Claudia is super about working with you on measurements.

It is hard to believe our little girlies are nine already, Islay has some pretty silver highlights on her cheekbones and eyebrows now too, feels like they were puppies just yesterday. Sweet Randy got a little teary, sounds like Miguel, nothing like a tiny dachsie girl to sneak their little paws round Daddy and his heart.

Danni ere what did ya get" Wast week da mama had a barkday and gots one of dose Snuggie blankies from her cousins Lynn and Gail AND Gail gots me one too so I could keeps warm wif mama.
Marcia here: Dani kept the snuggie on for about 2 hours, but refused to wear it when she went outside, she didn't want the dog behind us to see her in it.
Mother Nature usually does a pretty good job of compensating for cold weather with our furkids. Most of my dachsies have never had issues going out in temps to around 30 degrees, and sometimes colder wearing nothing but their fur. Zeke's coat is so poor due to his color dilution aloepecia that he needs a sweater.

Let me correct you on one small mistake you've made.
It's not grey...It's sugar. My Ms. Lucy looks like she's been hit in the face with a sugar pie. They're just that much sweeter now that they are older...at least thats the way I see it.

I can't wait to tell Randy about the sugar dusting. He will like that. I did find a few things on Etsy. Just have to get measurements and decide on one of them. There is one that I think would stop Randy from walking her- and Schatzi from going! Something about the huge Pom-Pom on the head.

Schatzi got eggies, of course, and even a small bite of Meghan's birthday cake. We celebrated it last weekend since it fell mid-week this year. She also got new doggie treats and will be getting a new blanket and her sweater. And Christmas isn't too far away....
That is so cute. I bought my cousin a collar and leash for her new dog and her husband and son refused to walk the dog if she wore it - said it was too girly(it was sunset pink and orange.)
